In living organisms, a molybdenum atom is found within molybdenum-dependent enzymes or molybdoenzymes. Molybdoenzymes catalyze reactions in carbon, sulfur, and nitrogen metabolism. Only four molbdoenzymes have been identified in humans. Most of the known molybdoenzymes are found in bacteria. Dietary molybdenum can be administrated to humans, to treat Wilson disease and tungsten poisoning; and it may be useful in arthritis. Short Chain Fatty Acids (SCFA) like Propionate and Butyrate are a function of healthy/balanced gut bacteria. The levels of SCFA produced by the microbiome affect gut health and can contribute to the development of several diseases 👉🏽 including kidney disease. The study demonstrated that: 1️⃣ levels of propionate and butyrate in stool were lower in CKD patients and gradually reduced as the disease progresse 2️⃣ "Early administration of these SCFAs prevents disease advancement in a pre-clinical model of acute renal damage, demonstrating their therapeutic potential independently of the gut microbiota." ✨️ This is a major step in better understanding the role of applying an Integrative lense in renal care by supporting gut health and mucrobiome balance as a foundation in protecting kidney health. #citation New research sheds light on the impact of aspirin on gut health. 🌟 A study on Cell Host & Microbe from The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University using clinical cohorts and mouse models found that aspirin suppresses the growth of a specific gut microbe, Parabacteroides goldsteinii. Supplementing mice with this microbe or its metabolite, 7-keto-lithocholic acid (7-keto-LCA), reduced aspirin-induced damage to the intestinal barrier. Findings suggest that 7-keto-LCA promotes intestinal epithelium repair by suppressing signaling through the farnesoid X receptor (FXR), highlighting the complex interplay between aspirin, gut microbiota, and gastrointestinal homeostasis. “Although bilirubin reductase is present in almost all healthy adults, the scientists found that it’s often missing from newborns. “This absence may contribute to infant jaundice and the formation of pigmented gallstones,” says Hall. If this hypothesis is confirmed, one approach to treating infant jaundice might be to add back the bacteria through a probiotic strategy, he says. The enzyme is often lacking or missing in people with inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, according to researchers. “The absence of bilirubin microbes may also contribute to the formation of gallstones, which has been observed in some people with inflammatory bowel disease,” says Hall. Happy to share our recent paper, A pilot study evaluated the efficacy of VagiBIOM, a multi-Lactobacillus vaginal suppository, in peri- and premenopausal women with BV. Results showed significant improvements in vaginal pH, itching, Nugent score, and overall vaginal health, attributed to increased Lactobacillus diversity. VagiBIOM effectively relieved BV symptoms and restored vaginal microbiome balance after 4 weeks of intervention. Mammals can obtain taurine from food and synthesize it from sulfur-containing amino acids. Mammalian fetuses and infants have little ability to synthesize taurine. Therefore, they are dependent on taurine given from mothers either via the placenta or via breast milk. Many lines of evidence demonstrate that maternally derived taurine is essential for offspring development, shaping various traits in adults. Various environmental factors, including maternal obesity, preeclampsia, and undernutrition, can affect the efficacy of taurine transfer via either the placenta or breast milk. Thus, maternally derived taurine during the perinatal period can influence the offspring's development and even determine health and disease later in life. In this review, I will discuss the biological function of taurine during development and the regulatory mechanisms of taurine transport from mother to offspring. I also refer to the possible environmental factors affecting taurine functions in mother-offspring bonding during perinatal periods. The possible functions of taurine as a determinant of gut microbiota and in the context of the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) hypothesis will also be discussed. Tochitani S. ☑️ *READ ABSTRACT BELOW:* Part 2: Results: Weight gain, glucose intolerance and hepatic steatosis were more severe in the HFD + FR group than in the control and HFD groups. This was accompanied by a higher level of systemic inflammation, as indicated by increased expression of pro-inflammatory genes in visceral white adipose tissue and by a higher serum TNFα level. In addition, immunophenotyping revealed the increase of the surface expressions of CD44 and CD69 on various cell types, such as CD8+ and CD4 + T-cells, B-cells and macrophages, in animals with obesity. Conclusions: The combination of HFD with fructose supplementation promotes more properly the symptoms of metabolic syndrome. Therefore, the combined high-fat/high-fructose nutrition can be a more suitable model of the Western diet. However, despite these differences, both models showed immunophenotypic changes that may be associated with increased risk of obesity-related cancer.
