Additionally, Kauno Grudai takes the extra step of processing the plastic for packaging in-house, which further decreases CO2 emissions by avoiding the need for external processing. Overall, 97% of their organic products packaging is recyclable, and 61% is made from renewable resources. Major steps, like installing solar panels, are important. Just as worthwhile are the small details that, when added up, can make a real difference. For us, sustainability begins with a mindset, then becomes a journey. The small steps we take every day add up to something big. This backpack is an example of that. Looking at the details, we were able to make a series of choices on material, dye, hardware and construction that incrementally amount to a significant reduction in impact on the planet, once in full production. As large-scale manufacturers of bags for over two decades we've gained some insights into sustainable materials and methods, yet we still can learn more. Let us know your thoughts.
