In the immortal words of Bon Jovi - “Woah, we’re halfway there…” Halfway through my secondment with Poppyscotland and what a four months it has been. Over those months, there have been many, many, many day… I’ve distilled them into one of the five different types. 1️⃣ a school day: with new areas of IG to learn about (enjoying raffles and regular giving), and reshaping my love of legacies. New techniques for DM, and different ways of working. 2️⃣ a planning day: planning my time to ensure that I can fit it all that is important, and moving aside the bits which I have absolutely ability to change or impact. 3️⃣ a reflection day: talking with those in my network about what I’ve learned, what’s gone well, what hasn’t, and what would I do differently next time… 4️⃣ a prioritising day: understanding that my priorities, really aren’t everyone else’s priorities, and that their priorities really aren’t mine too. With a little caring and sharing still gets the job done! 5️⃣ a “not today Satan” day. Enough said. I’m looking forward to a few more types of days, as I move into months 5, 6, 7 and 8 - there’s a another song on there somewhere….

Today is Robin's 17th birthday! 🎂 At Robin, we believe in sticking to our values every day. To celebrate, I asked my amazing team one question: What's one word that describes working at Robin? 🤔 The big answer? "Freedom." 🕊️ But what does having freedom and working remotely really mean? It's not just about being flexible, it's about having control and trust. It's the freedom to pick your hours, plan your day your way, and be there for your family when they need you, like looking after sick kids during the day and working later. Working remotely also means less stress. No more getting stuck in traffic or rushing to reach the office on time. Instead, we get to start our day calmly at home, which helps us focus better and get more done. With nearly 8 years of experience here, I've seen firsthand how remote work lets us mix our personal and work lives smoothly, so we can do well in both areas. It's proof of the trust and support we share in our Robin team. 💙 What does freedom at work mean to you?
Happy Birthday, Robin! Today, we celebrate 17 incredible years of Robin! With a team of 27 dedicated internal employees from different countries, alongside our invaluable external marketing team, we've been steadfastly working according to Robin's core values: personal, clean, complete, driven, and trust. Our mission remains clear: to facilitate borderless recruitment. Here's to many more years of success and growth! 🎂

We’ve been doing this Brightside Collective thing for less than a month now, and already? Well, we’ve learnt a lot. Let’s just say that. Apart from navigating new biz ownership and ALL THE things that go with it, we’ve found that the many businesses we’ve met with and plan to meet with in the new year have people + talent problems outside of recruitment that we ACTUALLY have the power to help solve. Like getting the right eye balls on ad-copy and then the right people to apply is hard yakka. We know that first hand. But we also have a few good recipes up our sleeve that we reckon can help many businesses change the way they attract the right talent. Now is most definitely not the time to be talking about all of this. We get it. But next year? We’ll be ready and rearing to jump in and help solve things that you never imagined recruiters could fix. Imagine that! So let's get something booked in for January... simon@brightsidecollective.com.au

Today is World Braille Day, and this year’s theme is Empowering Through Inclusion and Diversity. Imagine being able to step into an unfamiliar lift and read the numbers. It may sound simple, but the confidence and independence this can give to a sight-impaired person is huge. Braille was a life-changing creation for inclusion and there are plenty of resources for you to learn more about it here: https://lnkd.in/g33CYysJ. This World Braille Day - why not learn more about Braille, try some fun activities or attempt to crack a Braille riddle! https://lnkd.in/gsXxwvNj

While preorders are critical, anytime a friend has a book come out I prefer to get it IN the store that day to: 1) ensure some launch day foot traffic to show demand 2) tell the staff they're either low on inventory or (in this case!) SOLD OUT and clearly need to reorder fast! 3) make the store aware of the title if they never stocked it Today was pub day for these 3 titles, all of which I now happily have in my apartment and can't wait to dig into: - Daisy Auger-Domínguez Burnt Out To Lit Up - Adriana Carrig The Power Of Little Words - Terry Szuplat Say It Well I'm lucky enough to be attending book talks for all three so posts about each will likely follow... And for now, highly recommend following each of these authors (and all around incredible humans!) as you'll see some of their posts about their books and more. And if like me you're hoping to write your own non-fiction masterpiece, one more related launch from today: Fran Hauser and Bethany Saltman, cohosts of the insightful BookBound podcast, launched their substack today. It is full of incredible tips for all aspiring authors. Highly recommend subscribing! Happy reading and/or writing!! And if you know of any other books w/ pub dates today or in the near future, please share below so we can all support!

When your friend shows up at Barnes & Noble, Inc. on Union Square the day before pub day, grabs the last copy of Burnt Out to Lit Up, and cheekily asks them to order more… that’s the kind of energy I’m here for! 😂📚 Thank you Sally Wolf for being such a supportive and kind friend. Huge thanks to everyone who’s already snatched up their copy! If you find those shelves looking empty, don’t be shy—ask for more! 😉

Chief Economist, Award-Winning Author, Speaker, Florida 500: Florida's Most Influential Business Leaders
Congratulations to James Repenning and the whole team at R&R Head Labs, a new fair chance employer in Denver, staffed with justice-impacted professionals. Jamie is the former president of the Floyd's barbershop chain and knows a thing or two about the business. But he also knows that people in search of a Second Chance show incredible commitment and provide an exceptional customer experience. On a recent flight through Denver, I stopped by and got a great cut from store manager, Deb. I also bought a t-shirt designed by their justice-impacted, acclaimed artist in residence, Tuke DF Crew! If you are in Denver - go!
