Is there a potential to reduce hypertensive medication’s with the successful treatment of sleep apnea? Yes, successful treatment of sleep apnea may allow you to reduce or even eliminate your need for hypertension medications. Here's why: * Treating sleep apnea addresses the underlying cause of hypertension in many cases. * As sleep apnea is treated, blood pressure often naturally comes under control. It's important to consult with your healthcare provider to determine if medication reduction is appropriate for you. They will monitor your blood pressure closely to ensure it remains within a healthy range.

Broken sleep and daytime sleepiness can persist in patients with sleep apnoea despite been on correctly administered continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). This small proof-of-concept study tested the acceptability and efficacy of morning bright light therapy (BLT) to improve sleep, circadian rhythms, and CPAP-resistant daytime symptoms in patients with sleep apnoea. Bright light therapy reduced self-reported sleepiness and depressive symptoms with greater reductions in wake after sleep onset compared with the sham group. We offer bright light therapy at Sleep Well Clinic. https://lnkd.in/gjNwTan7

If you have sleep apnea and do not get it successfully treated with positive air pressure therapy, can your hypertension worsen? Yes, untreated sleep apnea can worsen hypertension. When sleep apnea is left untreated, the repeated collapse of your airway during sleep can lead to chronic oxygen deprivation and inflammation throughout your body. This can damage your blood vessels and increase your risk of high blood pressure. If you have sleep apnea and are concerned about your blood pressure, it's important to see your healthcare provider for regular monitoring and discuss treatment options.
