How can CRE advisors stand out early in their careers? Knowledge of the Planning and Zoning process. Most will learn about this passively as projects come up throughout the years. I made an intentional decision to become an expert. I boiled it down to 3 steps. 𝟭.) 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆, sometimes even without the details. This is where relationships with stakeholders come in. "I'm working with a client on ___ looking to potentially rezone to ___. Any thoughts on that or major red flags?" 𝟮.) Engage with Neighborhood Associations and Stakeholders. Controlling the early narrative around a project is key. Help them feel included in the process and answer their questions. New Indigenous Job Alert: Director, Client & Stakeholder Relations - https://lnkd.in/geFKQQNk CreateTO, launched on January 1, 2018, is a municipal government agency established to manage the City of Toronto’s real estate portfolio. CreateTO works collaboratively with City stakeholders, external partners, and community members to create more livable, sustainable, and inclusive communities. The agency will enable the City, for the first time, to adopt a strategic city-wide approach towards the delivery of real estate solutions to promote a balance of community and economic benefits. The Opportunity Reporting to the Vice President, Client & Stakeholder Relations, the Director, Client & Stakeholder Relations is responsible for working with the different programs to establish an overall real estate strategic framework for each client to provide a more fulsome understanding of demand across the municipal ecosystem for the short and longer term. This position would have some experience working with the municipal level/or the broader public sector, coupled with a high- level understanding of real estate strategies. This position is also a point of contact for all senior staff at the City and different Divisions, Agencies and Corporations (DACs) across the city with respect to their individual real estate requirements along with being responsible for relationship management and conflict resolution. Responsibilities: ð Act as key point of contact for all clients of the city wide real estate model and be responsible for coordination with all of the clients within any assigned portfolio. ð Responsible for contributing to the establishment of principles, practices, and guidelines that an organization follows to proactively engage with clients and stakeholders, in order to enhance the overall customer experience and maximize service delivery. ð Work with stakeholders to help establish their overall strategic framework and their specific real estate priorities, inclusive of facilities management, property management and asset and portfolio management strategic needs. ð Use in depth knowledge of real estate strategies coupled with an understanding of City priorities and desired City program outcomes to identify real estate opportunities or solutions with respect to economies of scale, co-location, community hubs, city-building, etc. ð Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and to lead and align multiple stakeholders around a common solution and path forward. ð Maintain databases and inventories based on individual stakeholder feedback and review through a City-wide lens. ð Attend public meetings and events to represent the Agency to provide or obtain information on planning matters. May be required to attend or represent the Agency at City Council, Community Councils and Standing Committees. ð Develops and maintains effective and positive working relation
