🧠 It's time again for a #BrainFactFriday, this week about the neuroscience of accountability. Accountability isn't just a leadership buzzword; it has real effects on the brain! When you hold yourself accountable, your brain engages the prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for decision-making and self-regulation. This activation helps you: - Improve Self-Control: Accountability strengthens your ability to resist distractions and stay focused on goals. - Enhance Motivation: Knowing that you're responsible for outcomes triggers the release of dopamine, boosting your drive to achieve and persist. - Increase Learning: Accountability encourages reflection and adjustment, leading to greater learning and problem-solving skills. By fostering a culture of accountability, you're not only promoting better performance in others', but also optimizing your own brain function for enhanced leadership and personal growth! #Accountability #Neuroscience #Leadership #BrainHealth #SelfRegulation #Motivation #BrainFact

Mental fatigue is real. When you are working on a particularly thorny issue, it can literally lead to a tired brain as gluamate develops. This physiological response is important to recognize and provides further evidence of the need to take breaks, clear your mind, and engage in restorative activity. Doing these things allows you to bring your best work and higher quality decision making to your responsibilities. As little as 5-10 minutes can make a big difference in focus and productivity. What are your favorite restorative activities? Will you commit to yourself and an accountability buddy to make at least one of those activities a priority in the coming weeks? When you do, comment here on what you discover and the impact it has on your work. Good luck on your leadership journey! #leadershipcoaching #leadershipdevelopment #courageousclarity https://lnkd.in/eGnRSvd4
