Cooperatives are such an added value to our communities, ecomomy, cultures, and future. Cooperatives - center people first. What’s good for all involved, pooling resources together to spread the good, what are acts that have sustainable effects, instead of refractive effects, decisions that work to better lives, not strictly profit from them. Coops exist in so many facets of our lives. Whenever possible - choose a Co-op! • Credit Unions (don’t have outside stockholders - members are the collective shareholders - decisions benefit the members/membership) • Grocery Co-ops (like PCC, Central Co-op) • Home care co-ops • Electric Co-ops • Agricultural Co-ops • Retail co-ops (Ace Hardware) • Worker-Owner Co-op (growing trend among businesses where owners are aging out and selling business to employees collectively) • Housing Co-ops …. And much more. Worth celebrating. Wanna have a positive impact - join a Co-op!
Join us tomorrow as we celebrate the 102nd International Day of Cooperatives! Under the theme 'Cooperatives Building a Better Future for All', we'll showcase the sustainable contributions of cooperatives worldwide.

We're thrilled to share that our latest Dual Narrative Tour, set in Northern Ireland, is ready for take-off for 2024 dates. Northern Ireland’s deep history of conflict is still an active act of reconciliation. This tour provides travelers with a unique Dual Narrative perspective, seen from both sides of the conflict, with Catholic and Protestant tour guides sharing their community's stories and their own personal histories. Mejdi Tours co-founder Aziz Abu Sarah says it best - "What we’ve seen is that the Dual Narrative is so powerful because it gives you the opportunity to not only hear different opinions, but also to understand the people you meet, to understand their fear and their anger, and to really fall in love with the place you’re visiting." With much of the world seemingly in continuous conflict, this type of #sociallyconscioustravel - where the focus is on the human element of destinations; the diversity of its people, their stories and narratives - needs to not just stand out as an outlier, but become the norm. #traveltrade #travelandtourism #responsibletravel Learn more about the tour ⤵

Is our forward posture a risk or a deterrent? On one hand you have the Mearsheimer theory of retrenchments inherent strength through conservation of power and on the other deterrence through forward presence. We are going on over two decades of major and minor conflicts ranging from Africa, to Europe, and the Middle East -- with a brewing conflict in Asia. An argument can be made that forward presence hasn't deterred anything, but nuclear weapons have deterred a wider global conflict. Yet, the American led Western Alliance does look militarily strong when contrasted with the plodding, some would argue disastrous, results of Russian revanchism in Ukraine. So what are the costs v. benefits for our global hegemony? Is it influence w/Allies? Maintaining the post World War II Bretton Woods system? No answers, just questions with lots of variables. What I do know is that these were major questions that were being asked during my time in the West Wing and it was largely defined, in my opinion, by a clash between the old guard National Security Enterprise and newly emerging populist wings in both major political parties aiming to retrench. Interesting arguments on both sides.
TOMORROW @ 11:30 AM⚡ General David Petraeus joins #CarnegieConnects with Aaron David Miller to evaluate America's ability to respond to today's many global challenges, spanning from Europe to the Indo-Pacific. RSVP: https://bit.ly/3Spm5K3
