Yesterday I took and Successfully passed the national certification exam to offically hold the title of, "Certified Clinical Nurse Leader." Every hospital as well as outpatient clinics can benefit from the skills and resources that a CNL brings to an organization. I can't wait to someday use all of my previous experiences and education to serve in this type of role. What do CNL's do you ask? Here is a description from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) is a specialized nursing role that focuses on improving patient care outcomes and coordinating care within interdisciplinary health care teams. Here are some key aspects of the CNL role: 1.Coordinating Patient Care: CNLs oversee care coordination for a specific group of patients. They work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care. 2. Measuring Patient Outcomes: CNLs assess patient outcomes, evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, and identify areas for improvement. They use data and evidence-based practices to enhance patient care. 3. Risk Assessment: CNLs assess risks across groups of patients and develop or revise care plans accordingly. Their goal is to minimize risks and enhance patient safety 4. Research and Implementation: CNLs stay informed about the latest research and evidence in nursing practice. They implement new policies and practices within their clinical setting to improve patient care 5. Communication and Collaboration: CNLs serve as lateral integrators of care, bridging communication channels between different healthcare teams. They actively collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other professionals to optimize patient outcomes. 6. Quality Standards: CNLs ensure that quality standards are met in patient care. They actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall excellence of nursing practice. Overall, the CNL role combines clinical competence, leadership, and a commitment to improving patient care outcomes. Earning CNL certification demonstrates a nurse’s dedication to professional development and excellence in nursing practic https://lnkd.in/gRqf2bYx

I updated Cabinet this morning on the progress made on reducing hospital waiting times in 2023. There have been some significant achievements, which I'll try to capture briefly below. Credit to our Waiting List Taskforce, as well as the doctors, nurses, health and social care professionals, managers and support staff who worked so hard to achieve this. While we still have much to do, and our waiting times remain too long, we are making very clear progress and will do so again in 2024. These improvements were also made in spite of an unprecedented increase in referrals on to hospital waiting lists, with referrals up 12% (c.188,000) compared to 2022 and almost 23% (c. 322,000) higher than in 2019 Bernard Gloster Department of Health - Ireland Irish Association Advanced Nurse Midwife Practitioners ICGP Royal College of Physicians of Ireland Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) ➡ There are now 57,000 fewer patients waiting longer than the agreed 10/12 week Slaintecare targets ➡ The number of patients waiting longer than 1 year fell by 32% (54,000) ➡ Average wait times for outpatients dropped from 9.7 months to 7.5 months ➡ 2023 was the second year in a row that waiting lists fell ➡ Our health service treated 177,000 more patients (scheduled care) in 2023 v 2022

👩⚕️👨⚕️ Bridging Healthcare: APRNs and PAs in Patient Wellbeing 🤝 In the realm of healthcare, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) stand as pillars of patient-centered care. While they have distinct roles, both play a vital role in safeguarding the health and happiness of those they serve. 👩⚕️ APRNs bring specialized expertise through their advanced education and training. They include Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Anesthetists, and Nurse Midwives. APRNs excel in delivering holistic care, focusing on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. 👨⚕️ PAs, on the other hand, are medical professionals who collaborate closely with physicians and other healthcare providers. With a strong foundation in general medicine, they contribute by conducting physical exams, diagnosing illnesses, and devising treatment plans. Both APRNs and PAs share an unwavering commitment to patient wellbeing. Their combined efforts enhance access to quality healthcare, especially in underserved areas. Their collaboration fuels a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to medical care, ensuring patients receive personalized attention and tailored solutions. Let's salute the dedication of APRNs and PAs, as they continue to make a positive impact on healthcare delivery. 🌟🏥 #APRNs #PhysicianAssistants #PatientWellbeing
