Here is a very creative way to waste energy! This is the Liebian International Building, a 121-metre tall tower in Guiyang, built to include a dramatic a 108-metre-high water feature. The building has a tank installed at its base, where four 185-kilowatt pumps lift the water to the top of the fall and create an artificial waterfall. Assuming that all pumps are on duty and they run 1 hour every day, that’s 270,100 kWh annually. Or using China’s GHG emission factor for 2022 (0.531 kg CO2e/kWh), that equals 143.4 Tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. To remove these CO2 emissions, 6,236 trees will be needed. Thankfully, the cost of operation is also high, so reportedly, the waterfall is only used at special occasions. What’s your take on that - cool architecture or just wastefulness? #RumenPresents #China #energyefficiency

What does a green H2 energised industrial park need to be fully functional safely? We are asked from lunch Monday. So begins the development of terms of reference and the systemic energy design for the industrial park inclusive of the sustainabity and supporting maintenance requirements to be developed into a full industrial park energised by PV-H2 clean powergen and clean gas support for furnaces and kilns. Preliminary suggested siting favors Borneo but does not rule out Kalimantan, Sth Sumatra, Singapore and vicinity islands, Perak/Johore ports/rail access vicinities. Scope to be decided for one off showcase development or multiple venture collaboration sites development in the region.

On January 13, the grand opening ceremony of Kingsol Jiujiang Base, accompanied by the inaugural PV Zero Carbon Industry Chain Innovation and Development Forum, unfolded in #Jiujiang, one of the central cities in Southeastern #China, drawing a crowd of 100 participants. Andy To, Managing Director, North Asia, representing our organization, was invited to engage in a roundtable discussion themed "Outlook on the Integration and Innovation of the PV and Zero Carbon Industry Chains under the Background of Global Carbon Border Management." Additionally, Brown Xu, Director of Market Transformation and Development, North Asia, delivered a compelling speech titled "LEED Helping Green Buildings Move Towards Zero Carbon." During the discussion on the pivotal role of photovoltaics in zero-carbon buildings, Andy emphasized, "From a carbon operation perspective, electrification is gaining increasing significance, and new energy photovoltaic storage plays an important role in achieving zero carbon. Presently, many companies mention zero carbon, primarily relying on purchasing green electricity, with only a few translating these intentions into tangible practices. Yet, there are notable industry pioneers, exemplified by the recent LEED Zero Carbon & Energy certified McDonald's China's Shougang Park Drive-thru Store. This establishment's roof boasts a solar photovoltaic power generation system spanning over 2,000 square meters, generating approximately 330,000 kWh of electricity annually. This setup empowers the restaurant to operate self-sufficiently, resulting in an annual reduction of about 200 tons of carbon emissions. It serves as an exemplary instance showcasing the seamless integration of photovoltaics and zero-carbon buildings. We remain optimistic that more buildings will embrace LEED Zero in the future." #LEEDinChina #greenbuildings #sustainabledevelopment #carboneutrality #ESG

Hi all, I, Nur Asiah, am very excited to share my experiences and what I learned in the last month with AMATI Indonesia and GAWIREA at MSIB Kampus Merdeka Batch-6 with the Net Zero Heroes renewable energy program. I want to invite all of you to reflect on the material I studied during April. Over the past month, I have followed a series of materials on interesting topics and have very broad insight, in this case focusing on a project carried out by each group. Several groups were given an assignment in the form of project work which was to provide results and more insight for each group, especially for each member. In my group, I received a project about a village which would be the target of the project group. I carry out the task of working on a project where part of the assignment with 2 members focuses on the project point. Focusing on projects in a village, there are several points that are accepted, including community development strategies, stakeholder research and mapping, introduction to renewable energy, introduction to solar energy, design & regulations for solar power plants, solar power generation systems & HOMER Pro Simulation, solar power generation solutions for rural problems, local government contributions to support renewable energy, the future of green hydrogen in Indonesia, and sustainable bioenergy: harnessing the power of nature for a greener future. On the other hand, I took several classes, including: - Youth Participation in Climate Justice - ESG Modeling to Support Climate Change Action - Theory Change - Geothermal (Chapters 1 and 2) And I am very grateful to get new insight into this matter. That it is an important role in knowing the science in it. #MSIB #AMATIIndonesia #NetZeroHero
