Did you know that there's a National Women's Health Strategy 2020-2030? 💡 Part of the strategy emphasises the need to address the social determinants of health that disproportionately affect women by: 🚺 Improving access to healthcare services in rural and remote areas. 🚺 Providing targeted support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and 🚺 Addressing the needs of women with disabilities and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. There are five principles recommended each with objectives to improve this issue, with one being 'a focus on prevention'. Are health equity and equality synonymous? Not exactly. While equality aims for sameness, equity ensures fairness, acknowledging diverse needs. Understanding this subtle yet crucial difference is vital for fostering truly inclusive healthcare for everyone. Among the myriad forms of inequality, the injustice in health stands as the most egregious and inhumane. Every individual, regardless of wealth or background, deserves equitable access to healthcare, an unalienable right. #healthequity #healthequality #houstonhealthdepartment #americorps #americanpublichealth #who #harvard_globalhealth #harrishealthsystem #cdcglobal #nihgov #hhsgov #partnersinhealth

#MyHealthMyRight! Today is #WorldHealthDay - a day to champion the right of everyone to have access to affordable and quality health services. An urgent reminder to put in practice principle 16 of the European Pillar of #SocialRights endorsed by all EU heads of state, European Parliament and Commission. Principle 16 states: "Everyone has the right to timely access to affordable, preventive and curative health care of good quality." The #EPSR action plan for principle 16 is critically underused. Considering the European elections, the upcoming 2025 European Pillar of Social Rights review, the ‘cost-of-living’ crisis, green, digital and demographic transitions, the Social Pillar is crucial as ever and needs to be high on EU agenda’s. To be discussed in La Hulpe next week! Yesterday, Care4everyBody had the opportunity to attend the event 'The State of Women's Health: Where do we stand in the EU?'. In it, Samira Rafaela presented her manifesto to Equality Commissioner Helena Dalli. The manifesto, “Let’s talk about our bodies”, advocates for urgent action at EU level: 🔬 Closing the gap in women’s health research and innovation 🏥 Promoting a healthcare workforce that represents everyone 🚺 Securing the right to bodily autonomy 🌐 Placing women's health high on the political agenda Women’s health should be a priority on the EU agenda. All the panelists, among who were experts, policymakers, private partners and leading NGOs, agreed. Moreover, lower quality of healthcare for the greater half of the population has a major economic impact on the EU’s internal market, workforce, pensions and social security systems. Thank you Samira Rafaela, Florence Raes and the excellent speakers Emma Lok, Ffion Storer Jones, Peggy Maguire, Ben Light and Milka Sokolović for the organisation and for raising awareness on this important issue and calling for urgent action. Care4everyBody addresses these issues through research and uses the expertise of our network of medical experts to create concrete solutions. Want to know more about us?
