Have you ever considered, or been recruited for board membership? What do you look for when making a decision? How do you determine alignment? Ron Kirk, former Dallas Mayor and former Texas Secretary of State, has some simple, but good advice. #boardmembership
Black Enterprise on Instagram: "Ron Kirk, Senior of Counsel at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, shared a thought-provoking perspective at Black Men XCEL. Corporate boards and our community spaces have more in common than we think. It's important to ensure that the companies we engage with align with our values and standards. #BMXCEL"

Ethan Hawke recently shared some valuable advice he got from Denzel Washington about winning awards. He said, "You don’t want an award to improve your status. You want to improve the award’s status." This is a powerful statement that challenges us to think about the true value of awards. It's not about personal recognition, but about elevating the award itself. What do you think about this perspective? Share your thoughts in the comments below. #EthanHawke #DenzelWashington #Awards #Perspective #Value #Success

Absolutely! Texas's 20-year streak as the Best State for Business underscores its magnetism for innovation and growth. As Bargo Capital, we're particularly excited about the opportunities this presents for nearshoring and onshoring initiatives, especially in light of The Chips Act and Texas Chips Act. By focusing on providing and executing on these opportunities, we're not only leveraging Texas's business-friendly environment but also contributing to the resilience and competitiveness of the semiconductor industry in the U.S. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to identifying and capitalizing on strategic opportunities that drive economic growth and technological advancement. #nearshoring, #onshoring, #CHIPSact, #TexasCHIPS

Fact attack! 🎾The average U.S. corporate board is only 12% diverse. 😳That’s right, the average U.S. corporate board is 88% white. And yet: 🎾Ethnically diverse boards are 13% more profitable than boards that aren’t. Having a diverse board isn’t just the right thing to do, it's the profitable thing to do. Seems like a grand slam but there’s a learning curve. The proof is in the profits. E.L.F. BEAUTY has had 20 consecutive quarters of net sales growth and has a Board of Directors composed of 2/3 women and 1/3 diverse. We are 1 of only 5 public consumer companies that has grown for 20 straight quarters and averaged at least 20% sales growth per quarter. Join us in our mission to Change the Board Game as we work to create a more inclusive and equitable future for all. For more hard-hitting facts served by BJK herself, and info on how we're teaming up to bring more diversity to US corporate boards, go to: https://lnkd.in/gatQrB4F
