🎊Yara's renewable hydrogen plant at Herøya, Norway is officially open!🎊 Today we celebrate a major milestone in our decarbonization journey as we're now producing renewable hydrogen and ammonia. We're also thrilled to share we've already delivered the first tonnes of fertilisers made from renewable ammonia produced at the plant to Lantmännen! 🎉 Yara's renewable hydrogen plant is the largest of its kind currently in operation in Europe, and here, hydrogen is produced with electrolysis of water and renewable energy, replacing natural gas as feedstock and annually cutting 41,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the site. ♻️ We’re also working to enable the hydrogen economy by producing low-carbon ammonia with carbon capture & storage (CCS). Essential to reach the Paris Agreement, low-carbon ammonia and CCS is a critical step to decarbonize rapidly and profitably. Another milestone towards the green #hydrogen market in the #EU! 🇪🇺🇪🇺 Today, Yara Clean #Ammonia unveiled the renewable hydrogen pilot plant in #Norway in the #herøya industrial park. ❓But what’s in for you? 🍃This is the biggest green hydrogen #electrolyzer project into operation in Europe, with a 24 MW power. It is the first step towards ours and Europe’s green future. We hope this can be one of many similar projects to kick start the clean EU H2 economy, but we need an enabling framework and policies to create #demand for #low-carbon and green end products, such as #fertilizers based on electrolysis. #DYK that green fertilizers have -90% #CO2 #footprint? 🎊Yara Clean Ammonia's renewable hydrogen plant at Herøya, Norway is officially open!🎊      We have reached a major milestone in our decarbonization journey by producing hydrogen and ammonia with renewable energy. 🎉  Made with electrolysis of water and renewable energy, the hydrogen produced at the plant will replace natural gas as feedstock and annually cut 41,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the site, marking an important step in our decarbonization journey! ♻️    💚 This project has come to life thanks to partnerships across the whole value chain. A big thank you to Lantmännen, who’s been committed as a customer since the very start. The hurdles we’ve encountered in the project have been solved thanks to trust and close cooperation with our EPC-contractor Linde Engineering and PEM electrolyser manufacturer ITM Power. We also want to thank Enova SF for contributing with a grant, enabling us to reach the investment decision.   Yara Clean Ammonia is also working to enable the hydrogen economy by producing low-carbon ammonia with carbon capture & storage (CCS). Last month we celebrated the official opening of our 24 MW renewable hydrogen plant at Herøya, Norway! 👏 🎉 We're now producing renewable hydrogen and ammonia and have already delivered the first tonnes of fertilizers made from renewable ammonia produced at the plant! ♻️ Once fully operational, the plant will produce around 20,000 tonnes of renewable ammonia annually, cutting 41,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the site. The Norwegian Prime Minister, Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre, inaugurated the 24 MW renewable hydrogen plant at Herøya Industrial Park, the largest of its kind currently in operation in Europe. The hydrogen is produced with electrolysis of water and renewable energy, replacing natural gas as feedstock and annually cutting 41,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the site. After Uniper, Greenko Group signs a 10 yr old #greenammonia supply and offtake agreement with Norway's Yara International, one of the largest fertiliser companies in the world for around $1.8 bn. Last October Gentari, a clean energy arm of PETRONAS, invested $1.5 billion for a 30% stake in green ammonia platform of AM Green. #Greenhydrogen made from renewable sources will get converted to green ammonia and shipped in containers that maintain minus 30 degree celcius temperature in the high seas. Supplies from India is expected to be globally competitive by as early as 2025 and more competitive than countries like Australia and US. Today, Yara International officially opened its #renewable #hydrogen plant at Herøya, #Norway. Utilizing ITM Power’s TRIDENT stack platform, the 24 MW plant will provide enough #greenhydrogen to produce 20,500 tonnes of ammonia per year, which can be converted to between 60,000 and 80,000 tonnes of green fertilizer. Yara has already delivered the first tonnes of #fertilizers made from renewable #ammonia produced at this plant.   “This is a major milestone for Yara and for the decarbonization of the food value chain, shipping fuel and other energy intensive industries,” said Svein Tore Holsether, President & CEO of Yara, adding: “This is a ground-breaking project and a testament to our mission to responsibly feed the world and protect the planet.
