Great presentation with important information to understand.
We're big fans of sports and good governance at McInnes Cooper! 🏅 Adam Foote and I presented at the Sport Newfoundland and Labrador Summit this week on the topic of roles, duties, and liabilities of a Board of Directors for our provincial sports organizations. We were so happy to see so many people interested and engaged in this topic!

Talking about impact, one of our pillars! The next 8 years we will have an impact on the 6000 employees of Fluvius together with Springbok. 🚀
More than proud that - after an extensive tender process - Fluvius chose Waldon to collaborate on wellbeing within their organisation. 🤝 We were very grateful to learn that they are fully convinced by our offering and approach. Fluvius builds and manages the public utility lines in the street that bring electricity, natural gas, sewerage and heat to many homes in Flanders. Over the next 8 years, we will join forces with our long-time partner Springbok - health & wellbeing @ work and return the favor to their 6000 employees in terms of wellbeing. Let's go! 🚀

I hope other colleagues here recognise the important progress represented by this pairing of a drive to improve communities tenure rights with a suitable financing framework. It's high time we drag the much further progressed, formalised and legally recognised tenure rights seen on land out into the oceans and lakes that support small scale fishing communities. In the meantime, communities without secure tenure are far too often expected to blindly pursue conservation outcomes they simply cannot afford in the short term. It's also far too common for outsiders to later supersede communities rights while privatising and commoditising resources within the waters on their doorstep. Impoverished communities simply cannot gamble on their future prospects and should never be expected to do so, even if done naively by well intentioned conservation NGOs or other groups. This is a huge and exciting step in the right direction that I hope gains more traction and support into the future. #SSF #tenurerights #progress #SDGs #fisheries #coastalcommunities

West Texas is known for big expansive country, cattle ranching, and hunting. There is a lot of rhetoric out there about how hunting doesn't really benefit anyone. Well we wanted to answer that exact question in West Texas. West Texas and the small towns that occur in West Texas heavily rely on hunting for the economies. It's the small towns that have the greatest needs when it comes to economic development, with every slice of the pie playing a pivotal role in the survival of that community. This episode in Connecting the Dots really shows the people that benefit from hunting, the economies that benefit from hunting, and the towns whose livelihoods depend on hunting. Connecting the Dots is a series that aims to show everything that comes from hunting: its impact, its benefits, its consequences.

Are you familiar with the Rotary’s Four-Way Test? ⚙️ As one of the Rotary’s guiding principles, the Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. It was developed in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor as an ethical guideline for running a company facing bankruptcy during the Great Depression. Since then, the Four-Way Test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings. Of the things we think, say or do: 1️⃣ Is it the truth? 2️⃣ Is it fair to all concerned? 3️⃣ Will it build goodwill and better friendships? 4️⃣ Will it be beneficial to all concerned? #RotaryClubOfWinstonSalem | #RotaryClub | #WinstonSalem | #WSNC

🌱 Feel the Call of Spring: Embrace the Magic of Imbolc 🌱 Are you sensing the subtle shifts beneath your feet? It might still be snowy, but the seeds of change are quietly germinating in nature and within your personal and professional life. ✨ That’s the magic of Imbolc. ✨ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗰? Imbolc is a cross-quarter day that falls between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It was one of the four Fire Festivals in ancient traditions, bringing light and festivity to the dark winter days. The Irish term “Imbolc” means “in the belly,” referencing the beginning of the lambing season—a crucial time for warmth and sustenance as spring emerges. (For more on cross-quarter days in the Wheel of the Year, check out my previous post.) 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗱: The Powerful Feminine Force of Imbolc Brigid is a multifaceted figure: ▶️ Pre-Christian Goddess of fire, transformation, and the forge. ▶️ St. Brigid: A 5th/6th-century Irish nun known for her compassion and resilience. ▶️ VooDoo/HooDoo Loa: A global symbol of love, justice, and equity. Brigid is global now, and you don't have to be Irish to connect with her. St. Brigid’s Day is on Feb 1, and astronomical Imbolc occurs on Feb 3 this year. You have plenty of opportunities to connect with Brigid’s empowering energy. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗱? If Brigid calls to you, you'll know it. If you've gotten this far in the post, she probably is. She can also help you: • Enhance your self-worth and love • Fire you up for personal and professional transformation • Navigate challenges, especially around unfair systems (hello sexism or racism) That last one hits home right now as vulnerable people face institutional violence; Brigid’s provides models for equity. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗰: 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 Connecting with Imbolc doesn’t require elaborate rituals. A simple and meaningful way is to create a Brigid Cross: Gather Materials: • Traditional: Reeds or rushes. • Alternatives: Sturdy straw, brown paper bag strips, or pipe cleaners. Craft with Intention: • Create the cross, representing the sun wheel, symbolizing the emergence of seeds both in the ground and in your life. • Link to show you how to do it: https://lnkd.in/g92Rd4Er Infuse Your Intentions: • As you weave, focus on your the seeds you're planting. Display and Bless: • Place the cross on your porch or near your front door on St. Brigid’s Eve (Jan 31) or Imbolc Eve (Feb 2). Let Brigid bless it as she passes by during the night. The next morning, place it in your front threshold or kitchen to welcome her blessings throughout the year. 🌟 Now it's your turn: What "seeds" are you ready to plant in your life and work this Imbolc? Share your thoughts in the comments below. #Imbolc #WheelOfTheYear #PersonalGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #SeasonalAlignment #Brigid #Mindfulness #WorkLifeBalance #NatureInspired #EquityAndJustice
