A common theme that comes up for #educators in busy classrooms is not enough time to get to know large numbers of student’s passions and interests. Loved seeing Laura Callender share how High School students journal! 📝 #reflection is a great place to begin and reinforces neural pathways for self- regulation among numerous benefits! One reason I left the classroom was an administrator who “didn’t want to see my students write in journals.” Journaling is excellent for learning for so many reasons! #StressTolerance 😃 Writing about your thoughts and feelings in a journal can help reduce stress levels. This can lead to a decrease in the production of the stress hormone cortisol, which in turn can have a positive impact on your brain health. #ImprovedEQ🧠 Journaling allows you to express your emotions and thoughts, which can help improve your mood and awareness of fleeting emotions. This emotional release can lead to a greater sense of well-being and happiness. #Integration 👩🏻🏫 Regularly journaling can improve your memory and comprehension skills. The act of writing things down helps reinforce information in your brain, making it easier to remember and understand. #Creativity 💡 Journaling can stimulate your creativity by encouraging you to think outside the box and explore new ideas. This can help activate different parts of your brain and enhance your problem-solving skills. #SelfRegulation 🧘🏾♀️ a journal can help you process and regulate your emotions more effectively. This can lead to improved emotional intelligence and better coping mechanisms for dealing with stress and challenges.
🌟 Celebrating #Educators, like Laura Callender, who skillfully integrate educational neuroscience into classroom practice! 🧠 Through journaling, Laura cultivates a space where students connect socially and introspectively, fostering deeper self-awareness and belonging. #NeuralEd #NeuralEducation #RaftingUp #KnowBetterDoBetter

Designer and curator of fun, secretly priming young brains to become the best they can be socially, emotionally, behaviorally and cognitively
If you have learned that crossing the midline is important to develop the helper hand and dominant hand, then you have learned a brain-body connection. But logically, that can't be the only brain-body connection. So why doesn't our education system continue to act like it is the only time the brain is dependent on a movement of the body? Let's be honest, asking kids to sit does not have the body and brain working together. Asking kids to memorize facts does not join the body and brain in work. Asking kids to do worksheets does not incorporate the body into the brain's work. When we don't join body and brain and ask them to work together, we are failing to educate in a developmentally appropriate way. #developmentallyappropriatelearning #DAP #developmentallyappropriate #bodybrainconnection #neuralwiring #brainscience #movementpowerslearning #movemorelearnmore

Often, the resistance to shift mindsets in our schools and centers comes from us, the adults! This template we have been sharing in PLC's, Team, Staff and Department meetings as we address the significant questions that can help us to self-reflect noticing our gaps, bias, and collective nervous system states as we sit beside our students. #education #educators #students #discipline #appliededucationalneuroscience #behaviors

🚨 Alert! 🚨 Letter Sound Play-Based Activity 🔥🔥🔥 🧠 Teaching letter sounds through play-based activities is highly effective from a brain-based perspective: 1. Neural Pathway Development: Play activates multiple brain areas, creating strong neural connections. Engaging in sensory, motor, and cognitive skills during play enhances literacy development. 2. Memory Retention: Playful learning makes letter sounds memorable, linking them to positive emotions and better retention. 3. Active Engagement: Play keeps children focused, stimulating the brain’s reward system and boosting motivation. 4. Multisensory Learning: Combining sight, sound, touch, and movement strengthens information processing and retention. 5. Stress Reduction: Play reduces stress, fostering a relaxed, positive learning environment. Integrate play into teaching ABCs for a fun, brain-friendly experience! 🌟🧩🎶 #BrainBasedLearning #LetterSounds #PlayBasedLearning #EarlyChildhoodEducation #NeuroscienceInEducation #FunLearning
