A candidate I spoke with this morning said this, when I approached them with a new role: 🔊 “I’m not looking for something new at the moment, but I’m happy to have a chat” Here’s why they’re putting themselves one step ahead of everyone else who just say “NO” By having a quick 5-minute conversation, you get to discuss about the current market situation, any industry news, and an opportunity to find out more about: ⚡️ Which companies are hiring ⚡️ Who’s desirable to work for in the market ⚡️ Is your role in high demand ⚡️ Is your salary up to market standards ⚡️ Is there more flexibility on offer elsewhere ⚡️ But more importantly: are YOU actually happy in your current role Next time you are presented with an opportunity like this, why not spend a couple of minutes, just to get an insight into the ins and outs of your industry? 🤔 You never know… this information might come in handy in the future! #recruitment #hiring #thoughts #insurance #insights

Not Seeing a lot of jobs advertised at the moment? 🤔 June is the busiest time of the year for a lot of businesses so hiring for the most part has been put on the backburner. While it may seem like a slow period for job seekers, it's a strategic time for businesses to reassess their needs and prepare for future growth. So you aren't getting a lot of traction right now, keep an eye out for a surge in opportunities as the new financial year kicks off! Alternatively, you can reach out to a recruiter about their current roles they are working (no bias obviously) #recrutiment #recruitmenttips #insurance

2024 is an amazing year for many of our clients indicating so far a hot hiring market for executives. Here is a link below to our clients that landed successfully their roles including compensation, titles, function, etc... https://lnkd.in/eueX-jfm How we helped them land so fast? Our clients learn to tap the whole market, not just the recruiter market or online ads, and, as usual, the unpublished market does not disappoint, with fully three-quarters of our client landings coming in positions that were never advertised. Executive career change is our specialty. If you are an executive ready to make a career change, feel free to reach out and let's talk! #happylandings #2024hiring #gccexecutives #careerchange #thebarrettgroup #executivesearchfirm

People Connector | Career Matchmaker | Insurance Geek 😉 A recruiter to know if you're an insurance professional sick of hiring/job search BS. 👊
I see so much chatter about "job hoppers" lately. First, let me say that admittedly, when I see someone with 12 jobs in 15 years - it's hard to imagine any scenario where that makes sense. Employers do not want to spend time searching for/interviewing/hiring/training someone whose track record shows they'll likely be gone in a year. Yes, yes - I hear some of you screaming "𝘔𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 1 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘴!" or "𝘔𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯!" Ok, sure - those exist.... but that's the exception. I'm not talking about that. What I'm talking about is someone who makes, say, 3 changes in 15 years. I've heard companies question the "loyalty" of a candidate like this. I'm sorry, what? Disloyal for moving on after 5 years?? THAT is what I want to address. 👇 That, friends, is NOT a job hopper. It's a smart person navigating the nuance of today's job market. The raise you're able to get when you change companies will always be more substantial than the raises given at performance reviews. Yes, even when promoted internally! If you think about it, it kind of has to be. The reality is that someone isn't going to take the plunge into the unknown of a new company without significant financial upside. Why would they? Arguably, these folks can become even more valuable too: ✅ They've gained diverse perspective of how different companies do things. ✅ They've experienced different cultures, different systems. Navigated varied types of corporate politics They typically have more confidence in their abilities too, and their interview skills are sharper, so they are more marketable. Let's use the example of an Underwriter. One who enjoys underwriting and doesn't want to move into management. What might it look like to spend 15 years at 1 company vs. 3? These numbers are inspired by my own personal experiences as an underwriter AND from conversations with many underwriters the past few years. The numbers don't lie.... Don't hate the player, hate the game. 🤷♀️ #salarythoughts #negotiation #jobhopper #salary #insurancecareer #doyou #cic #cpcu #cisr #insurancejob #underwriter

I got an email from a client company in response to my post yesterday. Stuff like this never gets old. 👇 As a recruiter, I know that I'm in a profession that feels icky to many. It's because of how most of them conduct themselves. But, I am not like most. I don't care about being the biggest company with the most clients, making the most placements. I DO care about: ❤️ Making great, long-term connections for both candidate and company. 📈 Helping awesome companies grow. 😁 Upgrading strong candidates from crappy situations. 🤝 Building relationships with companies who are great places to work, knowing that lower turnover = less placements with me each year. A company with low turnover is actually my ideal client because it shows they're doing something right! 😉 If you're building a business (whether you're self-employed OR building a book of business as a producer!), go with your gut and stick to your values. It might mean a missed dollar today, but the quality and sustainability of the business you build in the long run will be far superior. 👊 #recruiterlife #recruiting #insurance #insurancecareer #insurancejobs #career #nbtalent #cpcu #cic #clientfeedback #agency #retailbroker #remotejobs #insuranceagency #insuranceagencyjobs

Choosing the right job: It is not just about the salary! Back when I was still working in the corporate world, I was in the midst of a job search, and I was torn between two offers. One company pays more, but the other has better benefits and a more positive vibe. It was a tough call! This video from Street Cents helped me break down the key factors to consider when choosing a job, beyond just the salary. Here are some of the things I learned: 1. Benefits: Do not underestimate the value of benefits like paid time off, health insurance and retirement contributions. These can add up to a significant amount of money over time. In the video, Company A had more paid time off options and RRSP contributions starting right away, while Company B had a probation period and did not offer RRSP contributions until the one-year mark. 2. Company culture: The vibe of a company is important! You are going to be spending a lot of time at work, so it is important to find a place where you feel comfortable and supported. In the video, the interviewer at Company A seemed great, and the overall vibe was more positive than at Company B, which is a startup. 3. Other factors: Do not forget to consider things like phone and laptop policies, commute times, and opportunities for growth. In the video, Company A provided phones and laptops, while Company B required employees to use their own. Ultimately, the best job for you is the one that meets your needs and values. Do not be afraid to walk away from an offer that does not feel right, even if the #salary is high! What are some of the factors you consider when choosing a job? Share your thoughts in the comments! I hope this post helps you with your job search! #jobsearch #careeradvice #joboffer #careercoach #wessamhalawa #StreetCents (https://lnkd.in/dtxhGq55)

10 years ago today, I completed my first week in the recruitment industry, embarking on a transformative 5-year journey with the same company. Looking back, I faced financial, personal, and professional challenges, but reframed them as invaluable learning experiences. This role, my first 'proper' job, laid a solid foundation for my career growth. Throughout my tenure, I navigated setbacks: from candidate disappointments to client rejections. These moments, though tough, taught me resilience and the importance of building strong relationships. Facing commission setbacks due to candidate turnovers instilled in me vital financial lessons. To those aspiring for a successful sales career or seeking a fulfilling job path, I recommend exploring recruitment. The skills and insights gained in this dynamic field can pave the way for a smoother professional journey ahead. #Recruitment #CareerGrowth #LearningExperience

Here are the WORST reasons not to hire someone that I've heard! 👇 𝗔𝗴𝗲 Ageism has no place in the workplace. Experienced candidates bring a sense of maturity, adaptability, and a wealth of experience coupled with a fresh perspective. 𝗖𝗩 𝗴𝗮𝗽𝘀. As a recruiter, I will never penalise a candidate for having gaps in their CV. Have you heard of the pandemic? There are plenty of reasons why gaps exist, and as a recruiter, I don’t ask for the reasons as it’s none of my business. Plus, it has no bearing on whether someone has the qualifications to do the job. 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱. Overqualified candidates often require less training and may bring a broader range of skills beyond the job description. Not everyone is looking to climb the corporate ladder. If someone with extensive experience applies for a job with less responsibility, that might be exactly what they’re looking for. 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗯𝘀 There are many reasons why people have had many jobs in a short period of time, including layoffs, needing a higher salary, or being unhappy in their job. Never assume anything. A bit more open-mindedness could go a long way in finding hidden gems! #employment #jobs #recruitment Arcus Accountants & Business Advisers Andrew Cross CTA MAAT
