LVMH, the global conglomerate of luxury brands from Louis Vuitton and Dior to Bulgari and Moët & Chandon, led the sector's sell-off today. Its capitalization at trading fell by more than 5%, and since the beginning of the year - by almost 10%. Hermès and Brunello Cucinelli fell by 2.2%, the FT writes, Kering (Gucci) receipts in New York fell by 9%, Richemont (Cartier) by 2.3%, and Prada by 5.5%. Experts do not expect a recovery in the luxury goods market before 2025, but even then, rather for general reasons - “the market always grows in the end.” The question now is whether the trend has broken and whether it will grow back at all.

Louis Vuitton Started as a Luggage Company Founded in 1854, Louis Vuitton until the 90's was just a luggage company. #heritagebrand It didn't start selling clothes until it hired the creative director Marc Jacobs in 1997. By 2004 Marc Jacobs had transformed Louis Vuitton into a multi billion dollar company increasing revenue by 400% in 6 years. In 2022 Louis Vuitton's annual revenue was over £20 billion and it is one of the most valuable and sought after global luxury brands. This gentleman just became the richest man in the world. CEO of LVMH; A portfolio that reportedly includes Louis Vuitton, Moët & Chandon, Hennessy, TAG Heuer, Sephora, Bulgari, Christian Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, etc As we dey pop that champagne, he is smiling to the bank. Anyways, the biggest question for us as individuals, is what are we selling to make money. We are either selling goods to a customer or selling skills to an employer. LVMH shares jumped more than 12% on Friday morning, after the world’s largest luxury group posted higher-than-expected sales for 2023 and raised its annual dividend. The owner of Louis Vuitton, Moët & Chandon and Hennessy, as well as brands including Givenchy, Bulgari and Sephora, on Thursday night reported sales amounting to 86.15 billion euros ($93.34 billion) for 2023, exceeding consensus forecasts and equating to 13% organic growth from the previous year.
