Employer: “Would you mind if we contact your previous employer to see if you would be a good fit?” You: “Sure, as long as I can contact your previous employees to see why they quit.” Sometimes hiring managers just can’t get out of their own way! We do our best to make sure we’re aligned with professional organizations that treat you as such whether you join them or not. 2024 is going to be a building year in the mortgage industry. It’s already begun…if you’re in Sales/Production, reach out - we work with some great clients, including a Top-10 Lender. If you’re in Operations, we’re starting to see some spots open up. I don’t have any with my clients yet but I’m sharing them when I see them.

MORTGAGE OPERATIONS CANDIDATES: ANOTHER TIP FOR STANDING OUT FROM THE PACK 1. Once you identify a company that’s hiring or may be in the future, you want to speak with the hiring manager by phone. Keep calling. 2. Highlight YOUR highlights. Did you work for a top producer? Were you the lead UW/LP/LOA/Closer/Post Closer? Were you the go to for self employed borrowers? Jumbo? USDA? FHA? VA? Remember, you’re overhead so you need to be the best investment for them! 3. You only have a couple minutes to make an impression, so stay focused on your highlights. Don’t get sidetracked by everything that you can do (“or I can answer phones, manage the office…”). 4. Make sure your resume also highlights your highlights. Did You Know…? With mortgage rates settling at 6.5% to 7%, job additions will be the source of future housing demand. Nationally, there are 5 million more Americans working today compared to pre-covid days. At the state level, some states have zoomed far ahead. Home prices, meanwhile, are at their record highs with every state improving. The faster job adding states are in general leading to faster home price gains. A few exceptions: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Hawaii have outsized home price appreciations in relation to job gains because of remote work trends in pleasant locations.
