FINDING PURPOSE: An Extract From The New Standard Magazine Purpose. It’s a word thrown around boardrooms, social media posts and transient marketing campaigns. But what does it actually mean, and how do you align it within your brand authentically for positive change? In an exclusive extract from our inaugural The New Standard Magazine, we invited leaders from five forward-thinking organisations, including a natural skincare brand and a think-tank on the future of the home, to put their heads together over lunch and discuss the role that purpose plays in their different fields of work. They share their personal insights on how purpose is not just a buzzword, but a guiding principle to design with intention and build trust and connection in today’s world. Featuring: Jessica Gregory, Head of Design at Haeckels; Helen Job, Former Head of Research at SPACE10 (The Design Lab supported by IKEA); Jason Holley, Principal at Universal Design Studio; John Wilson, CEO of Map Project Office and Universal Design Studio; Nick Marshall, Senior Partner at Made Thought. RAPHA CELEBRATES TWO DECADES OF PERFORMANCE, PROGRESS AND PANACHE WITH AN IMMERSIVE TAKEOVER AT THE TRUMAN BREWERY, LONDON. We’re thrilled to have partnered with Rapha to bring their latest exhibition, Past Forward, to life—a journey through two decades of cycling excellence and a bold vision for the future. From their origins with the iconic Kings of Pain exhibition in 2004 to becoming a global movement, Rapha has always pushed boundaries. Past Forward is more than just a look back; it’s an exploration of how cycling has shaped culture, transformed cities, and inspired change. Made Thought has led the visual identity, concept, experiential and spatial design for the exhibition and bespoke mural, crafting an immersive experience that captures the spirit of Rapha’s journey—an evolution of design, performance, and impact. An amazing achievement for our partners at CHANDON! We first started working together back in 2019 on a new brand and business proposition that united and elevated six very different global markets, followed by a new visual and verbal expression setting CHANDON up for a new decade of growth and innovation. We are so excited to see the fruits of our collaborative work with the team having real impact on their business and look forward to our continued work with them as they activate the brand out in the world. Following yesterday’s win, taking home a Fast Company Innovation by Design Award, we took a look at the numbers behind the success of our Feeld rebrand. With a 20% boost in in-app engagement, connections and likes, and an impressive 271% increase in interest from non-members at launch, the success has not only marked a shift in consumer behaviour, but positioned Feeld as a benchmark in the industry. When Feeld approached us with a vision to redefine human connection and sexuality, we wanted to push the boundaries of what branding can do, for both company and culture. Reflecting Feeld’s progressive mission, we crafted a bold, sensory and tactile brand world that mirrors the user experience. From co-creating with the community itself, to an innovative interface and design techniques, to brand tools that allow for continued evolution as the company grows into new areas. Feeld’s colourful rebrand by Made Thought is the winner of Fast Company's 2024 Innovation by Design Awards! We are proud to announce that our rebrand of category-defying dating app Feeld has been awarded the WINNER of the Graphic Design category and a FINALIST in the Branding category. Feeld has redefined the dating experience with its progressive approach, transforming the way people connect. We had the privilege of collaborating with their visionary team to create a bold, innovative interface that enhances user experience and fosters deeper connections. Putting people first, our team set up a graphic brand world that brought the Feeld community into the creative process, working with art directors, typographers and users-turned-models to reject common visual tropes. The result, a brand as unique as its user. "Rebrands are so often seen as a way for a company to be more profitable, but this was really meant to be a galvanizing force for the community to better see themselves represented.” — NY Creative Director, Matt Delbridge. Find out more behind our creative process in the Fast Company article: https://lnkd.in/gPraMYAb Thank you to all of our collaborators and partners. With special thanks to: Matt Delbridge, Nicholas Lomboy, Pauline E., Ashley Law, Michaela Crompton, Onyedikachi Onuoha, Olivia Rawlinson, Andrew Stubbs Johnston #FCDesignAwards

"If we're doing our jobs right, we're not thinking about design in a silo. We're thinking about design as an overarching idea, and how can we build the right thing for the world." — NY Creative Director, Matt Delbridge Last month The New Standard hosted a panel discussion in partnership with Dezeen at Ace Hotel / Atelier Ace Brooklyn that explored "Design Studio 2034". The talk featured Universal Design Studio creative director Satoshi Isono, Map Project Office creative director Emilie Robinson and Made Thought creative director Matt Delbridge. Delving into the power of cross-disciplinary collaboration and a new era of creative partnerships, they also spoke to how coming together as three individual studios can offer expansive opportunities to elevate client projects beyond what was once imaginable with a traditional agency approach.
