An immediate and lasting ceasefire would be best. Prevention is better than cure. Please lobby your MP if you have not already done so--Australia should join the call to stop the massacre of Palestinian civilians. But there is SO much curing to be done already. Please give what you can spare. Here's what Union Aid Abroad says about its partner organisation, the MA'AN Development Centre: "MA’AN is part of the water sanitation, shelter and protection networks of non-government organisations in Gaza. With your support, MA'AN will work with local organisations to provide: • Access to water, food, medical supplies and shelter • Psychosocial support for families and individuals • Dignity and hygiene kits for displaced people "Your contribution can make a significant difference in alleviating the suffering of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, not only in the immediate emergency phase, but also in the early reconstruction phase, for example, in rapid resumption of farming for food security." https://lnkd.in/gUEdKbrY

🚨 Urgent Call for Help 🚨 “ It takes me more than 5 hours to bring food to my family. It’s difficult and tiring but I have no other choice otherwise we don’t eat ,” confides Mohammad, 11 years old. His story mirrors that of 2.2 million Gazans facing hunger. For nearly six months, Gaza has been devastated by airstrikes and hunger, pushing it toward famine. Parents skip meals so their children can eat, but many still go hungry. By March 15, 2024, 677,000 faced severe food insecurity. Without urgent intervention, famine is imminent by May. In Rafah, over 1.5 million displaced people queue for food, while daily bombings destroy vital infrastructure. Inaccessible regions suffer acute malnutrition, with 1 in 3 children under 2 affected. UNICEF persists in issuing warnings, yet obstacles hinder the delivery of aid. Join us in supporting UNICEF’s mission and contribute to raise awareness and funds to provide critical assistance before it’s too late. #GazaCrisis #FamineAlert #HumanitarianEmergency #UNICEF #DonateNow Source: UNICEF France. (2024, March 28). À Gaza, la famine est imminente. Read the article to learn more and to donate. https://lnkd.in/e5Pi8MBe (this picture is symbolic)

Did you know? The right to food is enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa under Section 27 (1) (b), which states that "everyone has the right to have access to sufficient food and water". Yet, on World Hunger Day, we confront the harsh reality of hunger in South Africa. In 2021, 2.1 million households (11.6%) faced hunger. Heartbreakingly, over half a million of these households include children under five. This is an urgent humanitarian crisis demanding our immediate attention and action. Businesses and organisations have the power to change lives. By providing meals, donating food, and supporting food security programs, we can offer hope and sustenance to those in need. Every act of kindness counts. At Daisy Business Solutions, we are committed to fighting hunger. This World Hunger Day, we distributed 5000 sandwiches to underprivileged communities across the nation, showing that collective action can make a big difference. We urge other organisations to join us. Join us in this critical mission. Every contribution helps. Together, we can create a future without hunger. This Easter, consider a donation.. https://lnkd.in/eghHb6cr Yemen’s national socioeconomic systems are on the brink of collapse. Ongoing conflict, massive displacement, and unpredictable climate changes have left families susceptible to outbreaks of communicable diseases. Millions of children lack access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services, causing the country to experience frequent cholera, measles, diphtheria, and other vaccine-preventable disease outbreaks. The situation is now so bad that nearly all of Yemen’s children – 4 out of 5 – need urgent humanitarian help to survive. Twice the number of all the children in Ireland – over 2 million – are dangerously malnourished and need immediate treatment, while more than 400,000 are now facing starvation.

I continue to be amazed at how the US government pays for war and bombs from one pocket, and "peacebuilding", "relief", and "development" for the same countries out of the other pocket. It's a study in how to waste your money. If you want peace, stop sending bombs. Case in point: USAID's forecast has $100M-$299M earmarked (sort of, it's an IDIQ) for #water #sanitation and #hygiene in G@za. #humanitarianaid #humanitariancrisis #funding
