I continue to be a big advocate for the opportunities within Digital Health to help solve some of the foundational issues affecting people in healthcare. I think we're starting to look at some inflection points that are making a lot more of the ideas and concepts already out there a lot more viable. Plus, we simply cannot afford as a society to miss out on these efficiency and outcome driving opportunities with everything else we also need to be able to do and fund. When you look at this list from The Medical Futurist, a common denominator to me is just how credible and doable all the opportunities are - NOW! Now, if only the regulatory bureaucracy could catch up, we would have a flurry of new opportunities to increase quality of care and life for millions. #digitalhealth #trends #startup #regulation https://lnkd.in/duSr7qSm

Great ideas aren't worth much. Here's why: For digital health — Evidence is KING. But most founders are wasting time and money on the wrong stuff. “...our fancy AI can empower...identify...enable...optimize...” Ok. Cool story, bro. Show me the data. Otherwise that's not worth much. But a dead-simple app. With rock-solid proof. For something buyers actually care about? Easily worth 10x more. Great digital health founders who actually build profitable products understand this equation. You can become a great one by starting with small-scale, exploratory research. You need daily iteration and validation for months. Not weeks. Get your research game on point. Today. Our crew at Manos Health just collaborated with Roche to show you how, with our "Build, Prove, Launch" framework. Check it out and let me know what you think.
In today's market, digital health startups often see research as costly and complicated, leading to a concerning lack of clinical research to support product claims. Brian Van Winkle, Sara Kuppin Chokshi, DrPH, Rishab Shah, Elyse Heob, MPH, MBA share a framework for making and planning research investments that can help digital health startups stay ahead of the curve. ➡ https://lnkd.in/d_tRseAY #roche, #digitalhealth, #healthcareinnovation, #healthcaretransformers

💥 Groundbreaking innovation does not predict success. As promising as they may be, the vast majority of digital health technologies (DHTs) will fail to scale. Against the backdrop of an increasingly competitive and regulated environment, how can digital health entrepreneurs ensure their companies thrive? Our latest systematic review, published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, uncovers the key success factors for growth-stage digital health companies. ➡️ Top Success Factors: Financial viability and market demand are essential for ensuring long-term sustainability. Meanwhile, external factors, like regulatory alignment, take on even greater importance in the digital health sector compared to broader tech industries. ➡️ DHT-Specific Insights: Digital health companies uniquely prioritize data security, system interoperability, and regulatory compliance. Success factors also vary across categories: ▪️Digital Therapeutics thrive through close collaboration with healthcare providers, among others. ▪️Health System Software relies on affordability and integration into existing systems. ➡️ Why this matters: This research offers a clear roadmap for entrepreneurs, stakeholders, and researchers to navigate challenges, scale effectively, and drive impactful innovation. 🙏 A big thank you to the co-authors Tobias Kowatsch, Laura Bitomsky, Marcia Nißen, and Christoph Kausch 🔗

"It's largely an open-source platform. That means the technology that we've created is something we've given away for free to the world and is, in fact, being built on by companies, hospitals, and universities around the globe." – Patrick Pilarski, Co-Director, Blinc Lab. At Glenrose Hospital Foundation, we’re proud to be founding partners of world-leading labs like blincdev.ca, where the decision to open-source their technology shows a deep belief in the power of collaboration. Giving this technology to the world is about speeding up the process of getting life-changing innovations to the people who need them most. By sharing this innovation openly, we’re helping to ensure life-changing solutions reach the people who need them most—faster than ever before. This approach deserves recognition. Universities were founded on the principle of advancing the public good, yet over time, perverse incentive structures have often hindered researchers from keeping that vision front and center, slowing the pace of impact. Leaders like Patrick are showing us a different way—one driven by collaboration, shared purpose, and a commitment to humanity. The outcome? We bring the future forward. A future where patients reclaim their independence, breaking free from limitations once accepted as insurmountable. This is the power of championing leaders who dare to think differently. By focusing energy and resources on transformative innovators, we can help engineer a better world. 🔨 https://lnkd.in/gvK6UpTS

Technology in healthcare has the potential to work wonders. That is why it is such a deeply fulfilling industry to be a part of. At the same time we do need to make sure that everything that gets out to patients to improve outcomes is safe, clinically validated and improves patients lives. These are critical components of the journey, and the core reasons why it takes so much know-how, time and money to get from idea to product to market. But when the product is there - in the hands of patients - and you're starting to see the outcomes, the rewards are tangible from every angle imaginable. And all the hard work, agony, frustration and stress pays off big time. As one investor put it: "Investing in health is like a piece of fireworks with a very long fuse; it will take a long time for the spark to reach the powder, but when it does, it goes BANG!! big time!" I could not agree more. And I am in awe of all those great, skilled people, who work hard every single day to enable great strides within healthcare utilizing to the max the opportunities in new and emerging technologies. #healthcare #innovation #invention #startup https://lnkd.in/gyXrWDMA

Your guide to Making the Digital Health Revolution. I wrote this book to explore 1] Whether Revolutions might have a 'Structure' that can be observed and codified 2] Whether we can follow Revolutions in real-time and 3] What logical methods are being used within the field to justify decision making. As Hart & Sacks remind us: the human experience recurs in patterns. This interest led to 4 years of research and 1 year of writing. Jack Murtha and Tom Castles edited the book, and guest writers contributed to their own fascinating chapter! Thanks everyone for your feedback and ideas. Hard copy book coming soon. Unlock your imagination here: https://lnkd.in/gWrWzisk ‐----------------------- *COMMENTS/REVIEWS* We are delighted to see the impact the book is having on the industry. “The health tech must read!” John Nosta, Founder of NostaLab “Interested in #DigitalHealth? This is it then!!” – Rafael J. Grossmann, MD, FACS, Trauma Surgeon & Digital Health Innovator “Fantastic book by TAMP Advisory Board Member in Global Health Law & Philosophy & Digital Health Expert, Bianca Rose Phillips LLB. BComm. GradDipLP. LLM.! It is packed with deep insights, immense value and immediately applicable wisdom! Highly recommend picking it up!” – David A. Hall MA, MHA, PMP, MIS/IT, CEO of TAMP "This book is up there with the classics, like Thomas Kuhn's - Structure of Scientific Revolutions or Karl Popper's - Logic of Scientific Discovery." Tom Castles, Digital Health Journalist & Editor "Phillips does a wonderful job analyzing the mechanisms of change in this book. She goes beyond the headlines and hype that are inherent to digital health and cracks what's really at stake and really at play." Jack Murtha, Digital Health Journalist & Editor “Bianca Rose Phillips wrote the book." Thomas Hickey, MedTech Gurus Podcast
