Always nice to receive an update on how site is progressing! SIG Construction Accessories and PRS Geo-Technologies have worked collaboratively with Farrans Construction, Costain Group PLC and Anglian Water Services to create a haul road solution that was both sustainable and suitable for the loadings during the construction and pipe laying phase. This solution utilising PRS Neoloy Tough Cells has given an optimal design which considers all plant and vehicle movement, along with reducing the requirement of aggregate by 55%. The solution gives a stabilized layer without the requirement for high loads of cem1 mixtures which can be heavy on Carbon during the manufacturing and construction phases of works. Further benefits include utilising a sand based aggregate with fines up to 20%, tapping into local quarries, using geosynthetic solutions are also less susceptible to high organic, high sulphate and high water table. There is also no requirement for heavy water resource typically used within traditional stabilisation methods. Water is becoming a more scarce resource! If you have a requirement for haul road design let SIG support you. Finally there was no risk of leaching into ariable land utilising this method giving full satisfaction of the land owners #haulroad #temporaryworks #engineering #civilengineering #workingplatform #compound #lowcarbon #nocem1 #anglianwater

Reduced-temperature asphalts – also known as low-temperature asphalt, warm asphalt, or warm mix – are mixes produced at temperatures of 110°C to 130°C. The production and use of reduced-temperature asphalt can bring several financial benefits to your operation. Here is a closer look at the use of reduced-temperature asphalt as a road construction material. https://lnkd.in/gAnfKs2q

Head of Infrastructure and Major Projects bias to Highways - Construction Accessories at SIG Distribution
Their isn’t a better way to dramatically reduce the quantity of aggregates used, controlling your run off/ wasted aggregate and reduce your Carbon footprint. Limiting the wagon movements to site, using less fuel and less machines to attend the cut also saves time and monies. A great example of the PRS Neoloy Tough Cells being used to carry loads, well done Team Farrans!Farrans Construction SIG Construction Accessories PRS Geo-Technologies

A good story from Aggregates Business Magazine about our new advanced compaction technology COMPAK designed for bulk earthworks to greatly improve substandard materials in situ for construction of infrastructure such as roads, dams and hardstand areas. COMPAK simplifies compaction stages by requiring significantly less water and reducing the amount of time and energy these processes usually take. https://lnkd.in/gd5pQTxh

🌞 Electrical Compound with 1,000 Helical Piles, Cleve Hill, Graveney – UK The Cleve Hill Solar Farm, Europe's largest solar energy project situated on the north Kent coast of the United Kingdom, required robust foundation solutions to support its infrastructure. Helicasol, specializing in optimized solar farm foundations, took on the challenge of designing, manufacturing and installing over 1,000 Finnish-made piles for the Electrical Compound connected to the solar farm. The project faced various challenges, including tricky soil conditions with soft clay extending up to 8-10 meters before reaching denser layers. Environmental concerns, such as minimizing disturbance to breeding bird species and addressing the historical risk of unexploded bombs from World War II, added complexity to the project. Helicasol's engineers came up with customized Helical Piles to support various structures, from switchrooms to transformer stations and floodgate structures. By using Helical Piles to support the concrete slab, we significantly reduced the need for concrete and reinforcing steel, speeding up the construction process while mitigating environmental impact and costs. This led to a remarkable 50% reduction in excavation work, spoil removal, and concrete usage, all thanks to the utilization of Helical Piles. In the summer of 2023, two installation teams were dispatched from Finland to collaborate with the local installation company, FGS Pilcher, in executing the project. Despite the challenging soil conditions and environmental considerations, Helical Piles proved to be the optimal solution for the job. The swift and noise-free installation process not only ensured rapid completion but also minimized disruption to wildlife. This was especially critical given the site's proximity to a breeding area for diverse species. Our engineering solutions, combined with Finnish manufacturing quality, provide a dependable and efficient foundation option for the energy sector. Helical Pile technology extends beyond supporting the frames and panels of solar farms, offering solutions for constructing essential surrounding infrastructure such as Electrical Compounds and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System). A big shoutout to Gallagher Group Ltd, the head contractor of the project, for their unwavering support throughout. Additionally, the close collaboration with FGS Pilcher and UKHelix played a crucial role in the successful execution of the project. Together, we've paved the way for a greener, more sustainable energy future. 🌱 #renewableenergy #solarpower #helicalpiles #sustainableconstruction #electricalengineering #foundations #bess

On the heels of C-Crete's recent successful pour of the world's first zeolite-based concrete devoid of Portland cement and carbon dioxide emissions, C-Crete was awarded California Energy Commission funding to further expand on this product. Zeolite is a naturally occurring non-carbonate rock primarily made of Silicon and Aluminum, two of the most abundant elements on Earth' crust. Billion tons of zeolite rocks are available in the western United States and many other parts of the world. Zeolite is only one rock in C-Crete's portfolio of cement-free concretes. C-Crete team is excited to leverage this support from the California Energy Commission to bring environmentally friendly concrete alternatives to a broader market: https://lnkd.in/gvJNCiKh California Energy Commission, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, Don Davies PE,SE, Building Transparency
