Strong #healthsystems and #IPC practices are key for quality care, #patientsafety, preventing #HAIs and #AMR; and promoting occupational safety and health amongst healthcare workers.USAID Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program work with the public sector, #privatesector and health professional associations to implement locally-led interventions has strengthened institutional & human resource capacities for #IPC and #antimicrobialstewardship to curb #AMR. Over 10,000 health practitioners have been reached in #Kenya. Similar locally-led approaches have been employed for strengthening #pharmacovigilance and safety surveillance working with the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board and The Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK).

Local Expertise Drives #Kenya's Success in Combating: #AntimicrobialResistance: Kenya has achieved significant progress in addressing #AMR in hospitals, laboratories, and health facilities nationwide, thanks in part to the collective expertise of the country’s professional associations, which collaborated with the USAID Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program on a pioneering infection prevention and control professional development program. This training initiative—endorsed by Ministry of Health, Kenya—has enhanced the #IPC skills of thousands of healthcare workers, resulting in a marked reduction in healthcare-associated infections. Key associations involved include: ➡ National Nurses Association of Kenya ➡ Kenya Clinical Officers Association ➡ Kenya Medical Laboratory Scientific Officers ➡ Kenya Pharmaceutical Association _ National Executive Council ➡ Kenya Society for Physiotherapists ➡ Kenya Medical Association ➡ The Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK) Learn more about the IPC training initiative: https://lnkd.in/gGTB_juA Learn more about our work in Kenya: https://lnkd.in/ePcKqNs7 #MSHinKenya #HealthForAll #localpartnerships #localization Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya Kenya Pharmaceutical Association_Nairobi Dr. Stephen Njuguna Waiguru Preston Ochieng Nadia Aliyan Grace Marete, MSc., MPSK Epa Twahirwa Dr Sofia Mohamed Evelyn Wesangula Prashant Mandaliya, MPharm, BPharm, MPSK Dr. Grace Ikahu-Muchangi Grace Kihika Ritah Akinyi Dr. Rose Jalang’o Lyndon Marani Henry Amdany Douglas Doyle Maureen Kamene Kimenye Peter Galgallo Arero Salim Oginga Dr.Helen Kiarie Sarah Odera Ngao Mbithi Nahashon Kipkoech Wanjiku Thandi Thaddeus Nyandika Jeremiah Mainah Dr. Anne Wawire Kabimba (PhD.)
