HS4TB supports high TB burden countries with financing and governance strategies and tools to meet TB elimination goals
About us
USAID’s Health Systems for Tuberculosis (HS4TB) project supports high TB burden countries with financing and governance strategies, tools, and approaches to achieve TB elimination goals. The project is currently working in Bangladesh and India (and previously in Ethiopia and Kenya), where it supports policy reforms for increased and improved domestic contracting of TB services, greater domestic financing, and more efficient use of resources, while building in-country financial and managerial skills and leadership. HS4TB is also engaged in two global activities to strengthen sustainable financing for TB. Together, these interventions contribute to global efforts to meet the ambitious TB targets outlined in Sustainable Development Goal 3. HS4TB is led by Management Sciences for Health (MSH).

“This meeting provided insight that countries, despite their differences, face similar challenges in establishing government-led contracting. It is a great opportunity to learn from one another.” That was the message from one of the participants at the Collaborative on Contracting Organizations for Health-Related Services, an in-person gathering of health sector leaders from 10 countries in Delhi, India, over September 30 to October 2. The year-long collaborative focuses on government-led contracting with NGOs and the for-profit private sector for select health services, using a country’s own procurement system and domestic funds, to leverage non-public sector efficiencies in their health system. It is led by HS4TB in partnership with the Joint Learning Network for Universal Health Coverage. Management Sciences for Health. #EndTB.

"The Intersection of TB and Health Financing: Defining Needs and Opportunities" is featured in International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union)'s Journal IJTLD. By HS4TB’s William Wells, Saba Waseem, and Sarah Scheening, the article examines the intersection between the needs of TB programs and the broader health financing landscape. In high-burden countries, the resource mobilization and strategic purchasing approaches described here will be critical if we are to maximize the reach and impact of the TB response. #UnionConf2024. #EndTB. Kenya has made great strides in reducing the burden of #tuberculosis. TB incidence dropped by 44% and mortality by 60% between 2000 and 2021. To continue this progress, HS4TB worked with #Kenya's National Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Lung Disease Program to develop a County-level TB Planning & Budgeting Capacity Building Plan which will increase skills among local TB coordinators to effectively tackle TB. #YesWeCanEndTB #EndTB. https://lnkd.in/em5AyrwS
