📢Today, at the Energy UK conference, Secretary of State for Department for Energy Security and Net Zero Ed Miliband MP outlined crucial points for advancing Britain’s clean energy strategy, and also stated: ▪ The North Sea has the capacity to store 200 years’ worth of carbon emissions ▪ Opportunities in hydrogen and other technologies are essential for meeting our clean energy goals ▪ Britain aims for clean power by 2030 and rapid net zero across the economy, creating jobs and driving investment 🛠CCUS is vital for meeting both the clean power and net zero targets! It has the potential to create 70,000 new jobs and protect 77,000 existing ones, while also decarbonising key industries and positioning the UK as a leader in this technology. With the industry on the cusp on deployment, the CCSA will continue to work with the Secretary of State and his team on the deployment of CCUS across the UK’s heartlands. 🔎Read the full speech here: https://lnkd.in/eTHMD8SR #CCUS | #CarbonCapture | #NetZero | #Hydrogen

Combining curiosity and innovation to curate solutions that respond to our emerging risk climate | Views expressed are own
UK Energy Transition is ramping up! Clear signals coming from the UK that the energy transition is at the top of the policy agenda. There has been a plethora of activity and policy initiatives, from the establishment of ‘GB Energy’ to the creation of a National Wealth Fund to invest in the energy transition. The latter will hopefully deliver a robust injection into productivity and economic growth through the adoption of intelligent and sustainable forms of investment and growth. Helping Britain out of its slump. Public private partnerships, and the ambition to work cross-sectorally, has also been a key theme illustrated through initiatives such as ‘Contracts for Difference AR6’, the ‘Energy Mission Board’ and the ‘Onshore Wind Industry Taskforce’. With a talk of Potential Regulatory Frameworks for Cross-Border CO2 Transport between EU and UK, the partnership ethos extends beyond domestic collaborations. It’s a hive of activity - hard to keep up with - so, I was delighted to come across this succinct and measured piece by HFW, which provides a great overview of Labour’s Climate Leadership: The story so far, and the ops and the challenges for the future. …..staying on Sustainability, other positives are UK‘s ‘Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, & the Digital Information and Smart Data Bill’. 👏 New government considering systemic risk holistically, responding with policies that mitigate against emerging risk and promoting sustainability literacy overall. More on that in comments.

https://lnkd.in/ezfRxquK Salix is this eligible for PSDS4? If only! It's disheartening to hear that the UK is considering steps backward in its net-zero policy to address the surging electricity demand. This decision underscores the urgent need for more robust, long-term planning to ensure that we stay on track towards achieving net zero as soon as possible. Sustainable energy transition requires consistent commitment and forward-thinking strategies to overcome challenges while staying true to our environmental goals. It's imperative that policymakers prioritise investments in renewable energy sources and implement effective measures to manage electricity demand without compromising our climate ambitions. We must push for proactive solutions that accelerate our journey towards a net-zero future. #netzero #cleanenergy #renewableenergy #climatechangesolutions #greenenergy Eddisons

The International Energy Agency (IEA) issued a new report this week, revealing the cost effectiveness of new cleaner energy over the current system. 💰Nobody likes feeling they are being duped but as the report says, “affordability and fairness have moved towards the centre of debates about clean energy transitions in many countries. The global energy crisis revealed the vulnerabilities and risks inherent to today’s fossil fuel-based energy system, while bringing the benefits of transitions – such as greater energy security, improved air quality, reduced emissions and less exposure to volatile fuel prices – into sharper relief.” ⚡️Turns out if you do the math impartially, a clean energy transition is actually less costly than staying with the current system as it stands. 🎉https://lnkd.in/e6kUSDdf #leadership #energytransition #greeneconomy #systemchange #cleantech #climateaction

The global transition to clean energy has a cost, but it may be a lot lower than the figures that sometimes get thrown around. The differences are large, amounting to trillions and even tens of trillions of dollars. #greeneconomy #greenenergy #oilandgas #alberta
How much will the clean energy transition cost? Not as much as you think, one analysis says

Chapter Zero Kazakhstan: Balancing #EnergyTransition with #EconomicGrowth At Chapter Zero Kazakhstan we are committed to supporting pragmatic and sustainable energy transitions, recognizing the critical role of hydrocarbons in our economy and the need for innovative solutions to reduce emissions. 🌍⚡️💧 Fahad Aldhubaib Senior Vice-President of Strategy and Market Analysis at aramco highlights several key points relevant to our mission: 1. Pragmatic #EnergyTransition: The global energy transition must be adaptable and inclusive, particularly for #emergingeconomies like #Kazakhstan. A #technologyagnostic approach is essential to ensure energy remains #affordable, #secure, and #sustainable. ⚖️🔋 2. Investment in #EmergingTechnologies: Increasing energy demand presents opportunities for investment in technologies such as carbon capture and storage (#CCS), #hydrogen, and #energystorage. These technologies can complement our existing hydrocarbon resources, reducing emissions while supporting economic growth. 💡💰📈 3. Role of #Hydrocarbons: Oil and gas will continue to play a significant role in the global #energymix. #Kazakhstan must focus on reducing emissions from these conventional sources, leveraging technologies like #CCS and exploring lower-carbon energy products such as #bluehydrogen and #blueammonia. 🛢️🌱🔵 4. #Infrastructure and #Collaboration: Infrastructure investment and global collaboration are critical. Leveraging existing infrastructure can optimize costs and efficiency, while #internationalpartnerships can drive #innovation and #knowledgesharing. 🏗️🤝🌐 5. Sustainability Initiatives: Aramco’s commitment to sustainability, including significant #R&D investment and ambitious net-zero targets, sets a benchmark. In #Kazakhstan, we can draw inspiration from these initiatives to enhance our #sustainability efforts and reduce our #carbonfootprint. 🌿📉🟢 At Chapter Zero Kazakhstan, we are dedicated to facilitating #dialogue and action on #climategovernance, ensuring that #Kazakhstan’s #energytransition is both economically viable and environmentally responsible. Let’s work together to achieve a balanced and sustainable future. 🌟🤝 Join us: https://lnkd.in/gSVK528f #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #ClimateGovernance #Kazakhstan #ChapterZeroKazakhstan #RenewableEnergy #Innovation #Investment #GreenFuture #NetZero #CarbonCapture #HydrogenEnergy #GlobalCollaboration #SustainableGrowth
