It's concerning that more and more young people are juggling multiple jobs, possibly delaying their professional career development. The Australian Bureau of Statistics reveals 194,000 individuals aged 15 to 24 have multiple jobs. Given this situation, we have to consider how to help these young professionals in securing meaningful career-oriented roles and if we are playing a role in inhibiting their transition into a full-time career. #YoungProfessionals #Recruitment

New research out today from The Prince's Trust and LADbible Group provides a glimpse into how young people are feeling at the moment about their job prospects. https://lnkd.in/eZimN57j Strikingly, the younger generation overall is only planning for the short term, against the backdrop of economic uncertainty. 60 per cent of young people said they need to prioritise any job over their dream job at the moment, and 40 per cent have changed their career plans in the past year. More than half (57 per cent) have said they have lowered their long-term aspirations over the past two years, suggesting young people are having to become more pragmatic in what they are prioritising when it comes to their working lives.  The cost of living (57 per cent), the UK economy (44 per cent) and their mental health (39 per cent) were cited having the biggest impact on young people’s future plans. Half of those surveyed said they were not planning beyond the next six months, instead focusing on simple pleasures like booking a holiday.  

Interesting findings from the Social Mobility Commission that found 21% of young people from the lowest working-class group were not in employment, education or training. Do we need a BeReal app for #business? I have been working for many years, in different sectors, and I mourn the lack of seriousness of some recruiters, their disrespect of candidates and the inflexibility if not irreality of job descriptions. Most candidates genuinely want to help a company achieve its goals, have productive parternships with colleagues, being empowered to give their best and learn new skills. In some sectors salaries have barely risen and yet more is demanded of the workforce while the cost of living has not stopped climbing. The retirement age has been hiked to 66 in the UK and yet many workers in their 50s face discrimination. Interested to hear viewpoints from candidates in the UK and other countries. Doctors to Be The BBC annually conducts a Careers Survey on around 4,000 teenagers across the British Isles between the ages of 13 - 16. The article is attached below and here are some of the intriguing results: One might hazard a guess that a preferred career would be one attached to tech, specifically with some of the large, well-known companies like Apple or Google. Close, but not close enough.... The results came in and the majority, at 33%, wish to further their studies in medicine, becoming doctors and the employer of choice is the NHS.  Further interest from the study was what thing teenagers believed was the most important to have in a job: 27% Happiness 25% To Feel Good About What you do 20% Money 17% To Feel Like You Are Helping People 5% To Have Little or No Stress 4% Leisure Time 1% Don't know What do you think the is most important? 📯Job Market News 📯 "More than half of young adults fear being left behind in the job market." A study of 4,000 people aged 16 to 25 found that 65% believe there is not enough support available to get them into work. With many of these stating that its hard to land a job without having a connection or 'way in', and 54% are worried they will get left behind in the job market.
