GLP-1 users may not have big appetites, but they are still hungry for information about the drug, its benefits, its side effects, and natural alternatives that may be available, according to NielsenIQ's Ryan Harkey, who along with Yvonne Buisson, presented about GLP-1s during ECRM's Vitamin, Weight Management & Sport Nutrition Session. According to Harkey, on social media, these searches are going beyond just "What is GLP-1?" and getting more granular, seeking specific supplements to address potential side effects such as GI issue or muscle loss, and they are interested in hearing from others about their experiences with GLP-1s. They are exploring what natural alternatives there are to GLP-1 use. Because of this, it's important for retailers and brands to keep tabs on what information GLP-1 users (and those who are curious about GLP-1) are looking for, and then providing a comprehensive suite of products and education around them. To help with this, NIQ provides trend reports around some of these ingredients and can help make recommendations to brands about what might be trending at specific retailers and markets related to this.
