A great blog. We are not going to get coherent food system outcomes without coherent food system actions and coherent food systems policy is a big part of that. Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and AKADEMIYA2063 are working on a tool to help governments assess their current policy coherence. Watch this space.

The Australian Parliament’s Agriculture Committee has released its report for its inquiry into food security in Australia. The inquiry examined ways to strengthen and safeguard Australia’s food security, focussing on production, supply chains and key inputs, as well as climate change, biosecurity and food insecurity. #foodsecurity #inquiry #report #foodproduction #foodmanufacturing

Food supply organisations join forces to highlight essential food policies 🤝 The upcoming General Election is getting closer and leaders of the UK’s food and drink supply chain have been urging party leaders to prioritise food security policies, support domestic food sectors, and ensure resilient supply chains. Key organisations like the NFU (National Farmers' Union), The Food and Drink Federation, British Retail Consortium, and UKHospitality have expressed frustration over the lack of focus on food security in political campaigns. They argue that food security is as crucial as national security and call for immediate attention to the issue. In a letter to party leaders, they emphasise the ongoing importance of a resilient food system and outlines six urgent priorities, including investment in infrastructure, climate goals, and policies to support the food industry. The Australian Parliament’s Agriculture Committee released its report for its inquiry into food security in Australia on Dec 7th. The full report can be found on the Committee’s inquiry webpage  https://lnkd.in/gfzeA_V5 The Committee has made 35 recommendations to address food security in Australia, including: creating a comprehensive National Food Plan; appointing a Minister for Food; establishing a National Food Council; developing a National Food Supply Chain Map; measures to facilitate innovation in the production of food; and measures to eliminate food waste.
