💯 Our Events Team & Interns ✏️penned this for the kiddos in our gc: Congrats Events Team! I bet it was a tiring but productive activity. We hope you learned the importance of: - having a checklist & checking it twice - pre-event orientation - onsite orientation - knowing your team & individual roles - knowing the desired outcome of the event - knowing the bigger goal of the event - quality over quantity - engaging with your audience to get good shots (yes, sometimes shots may be staged) - good communication & people skills - teamwork - the courage to try something new - believing in yourself I'm sure I missed more items, but I hope you'll take all the growing pains and insights as valuable lessons. These are truly best learned and understood through real life experience. 🎢 #proudmomma

At the heart of the "Restore" theme during this year's Champions Retreat, Rise Consulting hosted four circles during the Paths to Reconciliation: Building Meaningful Relationships with Indigenous Communities workshop. Senior Consultant, Patti Derbyshire, MA M.Ed. shared Shirley Turcotte’s four-directions teachings and participants joined sharing circles in the East, South, West and North to learn from one another about what Reconciliation means for them and their organizations. Guest speakers Ali Pearce, Director of People Operations at Briteweb, Ash Modha, CEO at Mondetta Clothing and Naz Lauriault, Founder and Managing Director of 50th Parallel Public Relations Inc. emphasized the power of listening, vulnerability and commitment as a part of coming into Right Relation. Here are a few key takeaways from the session, highlighting the impact of restoring relationships: - Embracing Vulnerability: Naz Lauriault highlighted starting the work of Reconciliation even when uncomfortable and shared how humility was a crucial aspect of her personal and professional journey. - Cultivating Empathy: At Rise Consulting, we emphasize the importance of intentional listening as a part of understanding diverse perspectives. Ash Modha shared Mondetta's approach to Indigenous inclusion and how listening to community led to the development of a work-integrated internship program for young Indigenous leaders. - Hearing Truth: Ali Pearce revealed Briteweb's transition from a "Reconciliation Action Plan" to a "Truth and Reconciliation Action Plan," setting new standards for Reconciliation action. This initiative emphasizes sitting with Truth as essential work. Openness and honesty lay the foundation for meaningful connection, thank you to the guest speakers for shedding light on the various pathways to relationship development across personal and professional domains and to all those who joined the workshop. Throughout the summer, our 2024 cohort will spend time reflecting on their bootcamp, CFC and internship experiences through the form of blogs. Here are some of her valuable insights on how "How to build a world-class community in 10 days": 1. Start with Shared Values: Begin by bringing together people with common values. Foster Gratitude and Shared Experiences: Activities like group meditation, “rejection therapy,” and even structured "awkwardness therapy" sessions cultivate connection and resilience. 🌟 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐥𝐲 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 ! 🌟 As we wrap up another week in the life of Mindful Movements, we're excited to the progress and experiences our incredible team has had so far! Here’s a glimpse into what we’ve been up to: 🗓️ 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐩𝐬: Our mornings start with energising standup meetings, setting the tone for a productive day ahead. These sessions have been fantastic for fostering team communication and alignment. 🏢 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲: Wednesday was a special day as our interns came together in person and met the rest of the Mindful Movements team (minus a couple of folks!). Collaborating offline has brought a fresh dynamic to our teamwork, enhancing creativity and strengthening team bonds. 🤝 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬: Interns had the opportunity to connect with their Mindful Movements mentors through one-on-one buddy calls. These interactions have been instrumental in providing personalised guidance and support, ensuring each intern is on the right track. 📞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟𝐬: Anita led insightful mid-week debrief calls, allowing interns to reflect on their progress and align on project goals. These debriefs have been crucial for continuous improvement and learning. 🚀 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐩: Anita led our end-of-week team meeting, kicking off with cheers for each team member (we love celebrating wins, no matter how big or small!) and progress updates . The meeting ended with a forward-looking discussion on our culture, social responsibility, and learning & development goals. This session reinforced the importance of continuous improvement and collective responsibility. We're incredibly proud of our  team for their dedication, enthusiasm, and the fresh perspectives they bring to Mindful Movements. The experience has been a profound exploration into the realms of community service, corporate social responsibility, and personal growth. 🌟 Key Achievements: The first semester marked a series of achievements with a strategic focus on community-driven initiatives. Surveys on school dropouts provided nuanced insights, shaping targeted interventions. Events like cloth donation drives and hygiene kit distributions exemplified the agency's commitment to making tangible, positive differences in the lives of those we serve. Collaborative engagements with CSR agencies and Aanganwadi restructuring initiatives underscored the depth and impact of our work. 🚀 Major Learnings: Navigating the complexities of community service presented opportunities for significant learning.
