Let’s start investing in our families and infurstructre. Get involved and get educated!
The opportunity for affordable housing for all Denverites is one step closer to the November ballot. Housing costs are a significant concern for the vast majority of our residents, and the teachers, nurses, seniors and servers who make our city run are struggling to keep up. The creation of the Affordable Denver Fund is a critical step toward ensuring Denver is a city for everyone, not just the rich, and we are grateful for City Council’s partnership in this mission.

One of the biggest challenges with LIHTC projects is the award timeline. Projects typically wait until the project is awarded before moving forward, and with all of the CHFA applications this means affordable projects are slowing down to avoid unnecessary costs while waiting for awards. The start/stop rhythm is not only incredibly challenging for consultants, but also creates additional issues as codes change and staff leave during the long process. Additional funding is critical if we are serious about catching up on the affordable housing shortage.

Do you know what makes the I Love Lancaster Fund so unique? Because it is endowed, it grows over time to support emerging needs, while keeping the vibrance of our shared future as its priority. In fact, it’s our most flexible and responsive fund, making it possible to invest in critical opportunities like HDC MidAtlantic’s College Avenue affordable housing project at the former Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Lancaster. With a grant from the I Love Lancaster fund, HDC MidAtlantic is redeveloping the former hospital into a mixed-use site that will provide affordable housing to local residents. This renovation will not only meet the critical need for affordable housing in our community, but it also aligns with the priorities defined in the Lancaster County Planning's Places 2040 plan, the Lancaster City Alliance's Building on Strength Economic Development Strategic Plan, and the City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania's Interim Housing Strategy. When you give to the I Love Lancaster Fund, you join 100 years’ worth of visionary funders who worked to create a way to support emerging needs throughout the county. You give it. We grow it. For Lancaster. Forever. Learn more by going to https://lnkd.in/eHee4ACb

Visionary Consultant -- strategic planning, organizational development, healthy work culture, storytelling, community engagement. Learning to lead with peace and justice. Together. I am a revolutionary for peace.
This really fines me hope for the future. Is it replicable? I have hope for that. What lessons were learned? People seem genuinely proud and happy in this picture. Can we get more of that? In defense of saving them but also to reinforce a process that includes the people — not THEIR people — in the decision-making and research process. Objective, third-party analysis on all the impacts. To all the people who care profoundly about their communities. Do you think we can model for a New and Improved Chicago Way? We really need it. For ALL the people. Help us, Brandon Johnson , you are one of many hopes. We just hope you can get on board. Reaching agreement is not easy when all kinds of groups within one community haven’t talked in years or decades. And we are well-trained to respond to fear and desperation messages. We get those from enough source. And we are well-trained to give up when money and power — and only money and power talk. That’s messed up.

Thrilled to share a historic milestone! Today, a coalition of 60+ organizations working alongside with key alders passed the Northwest Preservation Ordinance, expanding a demolition surcharge in Logan Square, Avondale, Hermosa, and Humboldt Park. The funds generated will support community land ownership, marking a significant victory for those impacted by gentrification. This is a step toward equity and preservation for our neighborhoods!

"Affordable" for Whom? The real question is: To whom will this housing truly be affordable? While this project, along with the recent Price Hill Will initiative, was undoubtedly launched in good faith, the unfortunate reality is that the housing still remains out of reach for many within the community it aims to serve. Who are we really appealing to? Who are we truly helping? If these homes/apartments/lofts are beyond the financial means of the very individuals who need them the most, then how are we addressing the root of the problem?
County Commissioners joined Kaiker Development + Construction and leaders from the City of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Development Fund, The Port, and Ohio Department of Development for a groundbreaking of State Ave Lofts - Price Hill’s newest affordable housing project! The County invested $720,000 in federal funding towards this development at 700 State Street to increase affordable housing.

The NYU Furman Center with the support from The Pew Charitable Trusts earlier this year sought proposals for a series of papers that would study the effects of changes to land use law. This series of papers aimed to understand how specific land use reforms—whether substantive revisions to particular provisions of zoning or building codes or procedural reforms of the land use process—affected outcomes on the ground, especially with respect to residential development. Lobbying for access to national grant funding is a key NALC policy objective. They successfully lobbied for local councils to have access to the Community Ownership Fund, and they've done it again! A new Community Green Spaces Fund has been announced by Defra. £7 million will be available until the end of March 2025 for rural organisations INCLUDING LOCAL COUNCILS to support capital improvements to rural community greenspaces in England. It is for projects that aim to create, restore, and enhance green spaces such as landscaping, planting, installation of natural play facilities, paths and seating. The current rural definition of under 10,000 is expected to be applied. So, you may have projects in the pipeline or you could start thinking about how you may use the funding. Rural community groups and local councils interested in the fund are encouraged to register their details with ACRE to receive more information about the fund when this becomes available, we’ll also be sharing details when we have them. https://lnkd.in/gCpaHeru? #gaptc #localgov #funding
