Yesterday the former Italian prime minister #MarioDraghi published the report (video in comments) on European competitiveness which clearly stated "The problem is not that Europe lacks ideas or ambition (...) but that innovation is blocked at the next stage: we are failing to translate innovation into commercialisation,". Last week, I had a wonderful chat over coffee with Marko Seppä , who hired me, a young engineer to work with the Indian mobile health kiosk concept at the Global Venture Lab, Finland many years ago . We discussed about the challenges for commercializing innovations in Europe, his new startup enabler tool and about the Founder Mode essay by Paul Graham. All my ex-colleagues would remember how Marko talked about entrepreneur mode and manager mode all those years ago. At GVL, along with team mates we worked on the GVL live case of companies with the #JYU students while developing and testing the 'Runway to Growth' (Kasvun kiitorata) concept to help early stage startups , which was later developed by Chamber of Commerce in Central Finland (Keski-Suomen Kauppakamari) to #KasvuOpen (link in comments). A shout out to the GVL team mates who have become 'enablers' themselves and to the glorious time we had : Mari Suoranta Aki Soudunsaari Timo Seppala Christian Aspegren Mikko Oksanen Leni Kuivaniemi Mitro Kivinen Mia Häkkinen Mila Hakanen Jane Porter Ilkka Hämäläinen . Also Sujay Santra, great to see what Indian mobile health kiosk has become. Kiitos paljon Marko and Mari for introducing me to the world of entrepreneurship and commercialization of innovations. #Commercialization #Entrepreneurship #EUcompetitiveness #Innovation #Finland #Jyväskylä

https://lnkd.in/g7mnNphY Once in every two years Technology Academy Finland, established by Finnish industries, academic institutions, and the state of Finland awards Millenium technology Prize for innovations for a better life. This year, the award goes to Prof. Bantval Jayant Baliga born in Chennai, India. Prof. Baliga patented the IGBT technology in the 1980s. IGBT or Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor is the main component in almost all frequency converters. Compared to previous components, IGBT technology produces less waste heat. During the last 30 years, it has been estimated that with the help of this technology it has been possible to reduce carbon dioxide emissions worldwide by more than 82 gigatons. In 2016, Forbes Magazine named Baliga as the man with the world's largest negative carbon footprint. The award will be given by the President of Finland Alexander Stubb in October in Espoo. #MilleniumTechnologyPrize #Electronics #Engineering #India #Finland #NegativeCarbonFootPrint

Kerala announces its first robotics park in Thrissur #Kerala #Robotics #Engineering
Kerala continues to lead the way in technological advancement. As the first International Robotics Round Table Conference concludes, we are thrilled to announce a landmark decision: the establishment of Kerala's first robotics park in Thrissur. Investors have shown great enthusiasm and commitment to this project, which will serve as a major catalyst for Kerala's growth. The Department of Industries is fully committed to providing the necessary incentives and support, ensuring that this park becomes a reality. With 10 acres of legally valid land, we are ready to grant industrial park status, along with ₹3 crores in financial aid for infrastructure development. Since robotics is a priority sector, additional subsidies will also be available for businesses within the park. I am immensely proud that we were able to make this announcement during the Robotics Round Table Conference, which witnessed remarkable participation from 195 startups and around 500 representatives. This park will undoubtedly rise in Thrissur soon, offering immense benefits to Kerala’s youth, including students. #ComeOnKerala
