This week, world leaders from across government, business, civil society, and others are meeting in Davos to call for increased transparency and accountability to improve the health of our world. This theme of rebuilding trust is crucial in the industrial space as we have a large impact on both our planet and our people through emissions, resource usage, and societal impact. At Siemens, we have been making great strides to increase the #transparency and sustainability of our own factories. In fact, our Electronic Works Chengdu in China has been the second Siemens factory selected as a #SustainabilityLighthouse by the World Economic Forum, after our Electronic Works in Amberg. Our Chengdu factory has reduced unit product energy consumption by 24% and production waste by 48% all while increasing production output by 92% over the past three years by: 🔋 Deploying a holistic digital energy system 🗑️ Introducing AI-based automation to identify production waste ♻️ Applying eco-design features to improve both circularity and dematerialization I’m proud that Electronic Works Chengdu has received this award, recognizing our dedication to increasing #sustainability through technological innovation. A big thanks to everyone at #TeamSiemens for taking this factory from the digital world to the real world in order to ensure that the future of our factories are connected, resilient, smart, sustainable and people centric. #WEF24 #sustainableinnovation Siemens Industry

EXCLUSIVE: The global micromobility market is expected to reach $520 billion by 2035, McKinsey & Company has exclusively told Zag Daily. McKinsey’s findings are revealed one day before Associate Partner Anja Huber and Expert Darius Scurtu host the panel ‘McKinsey’s Latest Micromobility Market Sizing and Consumer Insights’ at the Micromobility Europe expo in Amsterdam. “The main underlying drivers for our predictions on the global micromobility market are regulation and consumer behaviour,” Darius told Zag. “We expect that cities and countries will continue to support micromobility to reach their climate targets as one of many “sustainable” modes, and thus further invest in micromobility infrastructure, provide purchase subsidies, or partner with private micromobility operators.” See the key insights here: https://lnkd.in/e-3fteeJ

🌿🔌💡 Sustainability in Practice: A Glimpse into the Future with the New Siemens Factory in Singapore 💡🔌🌿 Today, I had the privilege of hosting an enlightening talk by Quirin Demlehner in my new MBA Class in our MBA Program on Sustainability at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, FAU WiSo which focused on a subject that's not just timely but crucial: "Sustainability in Practice: New Siemens DI FA Factory in Singapore." Quirin delved deep into the meticulous planning and implementation of sustainable practices that are about to turn a vision into reality with the new Siemens Industry factory in #Singapore. What stood out was the innovative approach for energy management and product carbon footprint capturing, setting a new benchmark in digital and sustainable manufacturing. The approach taken by Siemens in integrating sustainability with digitalization is not just impressive; it's a beacon for industries worldwide aiming to reduce their carbon footprint while enhancing efficiency. A huge thanks to Quirin for sharing these invaluable insights and to FAU/WISO for integrating such vital topics into our #MBA program. This talk was a vivid reminder of the power of merging technology with sustainability goals and its object stands as an impressive testament to what is achievable when innovative minds target sustainability as a core objective. This isn't just about a factory; it's about shaping the future of manufacturing and corporate responsibility – very encouraging to see that the modern leadership generation is up to speed on that! #Sustainability #Digitalization #Innovation #Siemens #EnergyManagement #MBA #FAUWISO #FutureOfManufacturing #SiGREEN Schöller-Endowed Chair for Information Systems Dr. Theo and Friedl Schöller Research Lab "Future of Work"

REALISING THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY FOR BATTERIES A SINGAPORE – GERMANY JOINT SEMINAR With the increasing focus on global decarbonization, electric vehicle adoption is growing rapidly. It's essential to recognize that the production of electric vehicles, especially the manufacturing of batteries, can have substantial potential environmental impacts. Therefore, the concept of a Circular Economy is emerging as a promising solution to mitigate these environmental effects and e.g. decrease greenhouse gas emissions in battery production. The seminar provided valuable insights and highlighted numerous collaboration opportunities for both Singapore and Germany, ultimately contributing to the implementation of a circular economy. Lynette Cheah, Farouk TEDJAR, Aloysius Lim, Arno Kwade, Christoph Herrmann Special thanks to the main-organizer, the #Singapore_Battery_Consortium, and the co-organizers,Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) and Technische Universität Braunschweig

My top 10 takeaways from @latamobility , Mexico City 2023 1.- As a sector we need to create a collaborative ecosystem to enable full capacity of all participants, 2.- It´s necessary to stablish a governance framework that includes certifications for the whole chain to promote reliability, codes for standardization are needed but the sector can build on both USA and Europe experiences. 3.- Sales in Mexico have duplicated in 2023 4.- Mobility must be defined As a Service rather than product 5.- Mexico needs to focus on Charging infrastructure 6.- In order that the sector continues growing all data of the sector should be Open Source to allow potential clients and users prepare their mobility plans 7.- LATAM provides the opportunity not only to share experiences but to create alliances to develop regional strategies 8.- Promote Innovation its necessary to create more affordable products and services 9.- It´s important to reduce the time for permits approvals 10.- Electricity must be from renewal sources. In my opinion, governments should be addressed as stakeholders not only as the regulators or tax relief entities, Electromobility success depends on enhance literacy of technological benefits and promotion of a sustainability culture in Mexico. I congratulate and thank all organizers and participants of the event, César Maldonado Sustainability and decarbonization Consultant Montréal, 2023
