COP28 UAE kicked off today with decision-makers congregating from across the world. Among these decision-makers are young, brave activists channelizing their passion to fuel local movements of change. Girl Rising's Future Rising fellows and Student Ambassadors are among those attending this convening, contributing to the discourse, and hopefully informing the actions that stem from it. Girls' education is and continues to be an investment with a plethora of intergenerational benefits. My First #Vote: An Experience of a Young Voter My name is Suraj Kumar, and today I cast my first vote. It was an experience I will never forget. Before making this decision, I had many questions running through my mind. For the past month, I have been trying to find answers to these questions so that I could vote for the right candidate, as it was a matter of my future. During this time, I examined both the ruling and opposition parties in depth. After reading all their manifestos in detail, I understood what each party was saying on various issues. I thought deeply about global warming, the economy, technology, and other important issues. Even after considering all these issues, I was unsure if I was making the right vote. It was a significant concern whether the country was going into the right hands or not. Thinking about Ambedkar, Gandhi, and the dreams of our brave soldiers is our responsibility. It is also essential to consider those in our country who struggle for a single day's meal. On the other hand, some people misuse their wealth despite having so much. The scarcity of water and the exploitation of nature are also significant issues. Considering all these factors, I searched for the right candidate. But to be honest, no candidate could answer 100% of my questions. Both sides had their flaws, but I voted for the one with fewer flaws. I didn't feel using NOTA was right because, in my view, it would have been a waste. Today, I feel that the political landscape of our country needs the thoughts and contributions of young people like us.
