Do you want a more inclusive workplace for employees affected by Menopause? Then, you need to help your managers to support their colleagues. The culture around Menopause is improving, and recent legislation requires organisations with more than 250 employees to produce a menopause action plan. FULLY HUMAN ⚡️Human-Centred Development for Executive Teams & Midlife Female Leaders ⚡️Advocating for Menopause@Work⚡️Addressing Ageism⚡️LinkedIn Gender/Age Equity 'Top Voice' 22/23/24
Great to see this piece last week in HBR about #menopauseintheworkplace Although the conversation has been on the rise here in New Zealand in the past two years, there is still MUCH WORK to be done with the majority of organisations (large and small) yet to get on-board with the importance of this as a strategic issue on multiple fronts - wellbeing, DEIB, leadership, talent development, recruitment, retention, and bottom line $$$. Many thanks to demographic strategist Bradley Schurman and award winning journalist and menopause advocate Tamsen Fadal for putting this piece together for one of the most widely read business and leadership publications on the planet. My take on their suggestions of things you and your organisation need to do to make 'table stakes': 1. Be curious about the experience of your people and listen openly to what they have to share. 2. Understand the cost of inaction for your organisation (direct and indirect) based on both (1) the data from ^ plus (2) the growing research and information on the personal, financial, economic, and productivity impacts of peri/menopause. 3. Raise internal awareness for ALL your people, not just midlife women (51% of the world's population are directly impacted by menopause, the other 49% by direct association). 4. Build a programme of support (offering eductation to raise awareness, training managers, offering support resources, updating/creating appropriate policies and guidelines, and offering access to specialist support). 5. Participate in advocacy OUTSIDE your organisation to be a leader and supporter of change more widely in the business sector and our society (healthcare, education, human rights protection, etc). #menopauseawareness #menopausesupport #midlifewomen

Join me with my brilliant guest Niki Woods where we talk about her new book ‘The man’s guide to menopause – everything you need to know but we’re afraid to ask! The #physical and #emotional changes affecting women during the #menopause transition can be profound and men can understandably find themselves bewildered as to what’s going on, what to say, how to help – and that’s understandable, because until now almost all the information support about menopause has been aimed at women …Which is why Niki Woods wrote her brilliant 📕 book. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 It was an absolute pleasure to have Niki as a guest on this episode of menopause conversations. During our conversation, Niki talked about : ➡️the reasons why men are afraid to ask the questions- the #fears and #stigma are real ➡️She gives inside information as to how men can give themselves permission to gain the #knowledge about menopause ➡️She talks about #practical and harmonious #strategies to achieve a more fulfilling #relationship at home ➡️And we get into the topic of #supporting colleagues at work ‼️The reality is that menopause really isn’t as talked about in the workplace as much as perhaps we would like to think. ⚠️There are many #singleparent families and a large proportion of those are also men who may have found themselves single as a result of the menopause. ✅Niki’s book is excellent in she explains the #science and helps bridge #communication gaps and the reader gains a helpful roadmap for navigating this transformative chapter of life. 🔆How about connecting with Niki here on LinkedIn and follow her very insightful posts. 🔆The remains of Niki’s socials are within the #YouTube show notes for this episode so feel free to access those there. Menopause Awareness in the Workplace Programs for Leaders, Advocate for Menopause Awareness in the Workplace I Speaker
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MENOPAUSE IS FINALLY GETTING ON THE GLOBAL 🌎 AGENDA For some time the UK has been leading the way in supporting menopause in the workplace. Only a couple of years ago I was having conversations with colleagues in the US reflecting it wasn't on the agenda yet. This recent HBR outlines what has changed and how US employers are starting to realise this is a significant issue for retaining and maximising talent in the workplace. Overall, this is really positive and there is plenty of research happening to explore the impacts of menopause. As you might expect, much of this relates to costs of things like absence and I think there are opportunities to explore the deeper elements that impact emotional engagement and belonging. We know that these impact performance hugely. My main issue with this article is it referring to the menopause as a 'condition'. Menopause isn't an illness, it's a transition that may or may not have physical and psychological impacts. 51% of us will go through this transition and as employers we need to be ready to support it. #menopauseawareness #menopauseintheworkplace #menopausematters #leadershipdevelopment #supportivecultures #menopauseawarenessforleaders https://buff.ly/48ByTTa

📚 The lack of knowledge surrounding the subject of menopause is concerning. 📣 We believe that schools and educational bodies should incorporate it into the curriculum. This natural, biological stage of a woman's life often gets overlooked. Due to the scarcity of information and the taboo nature of the topic, discussing menopause is often off-limits. This lack of understanding can be detrimental, especially at the workplace. 📖 By prioritising education in your workplace, through workshops and sessions, you cultivate a shared understanding of the physiological, emotional, and professional challenges associated with menopause. 🧱 Creating and nurturing a collective awareness within your business, lays the groundwork for a more empathetic and informed workplace. It also shows that you care about your employees wellbeing! 🔕 Are you ready to break the silence and empower your workforce with knowledge, inclusivity and support? We can help! 🔗 Our one-hour sessions are perfect for an introduction to menopause, and if you're really looking to take it further, there are many full-day workshops that can be hugely beneficial for employees.
