Quality of Life—Texas Ranks Number One for Lowest Quality of Life: Quality of life within a state attracts and retains employers and employees. Quality of life indicators include crime rates, healthcare, air quality, child care, worker protections, safeguards against discrimination, and personal freedom. Arizona, Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee, and Arkansas are among the states with the lowest quality of life. The content raises these issues: How important is the quality of life to employers and employees? How can employers improve a state’s quality of life? How should employers showcase the quality of life in recruitment materials? Are employees more likely to retain workers when quality of life is high? https://lnkd.in/ghv9pAZN #CNBC #qualityoflife #states #joyceFlory #ghostwriter #Texas

Raising public awareness is just as crucial as implementing any initiative. Effective awareness campaigns educate and engage the community, fostering a greater understanding of the issues at hand. This understanding can lead to more informed decisions, increased participation, and stronger support for initiatives. Public awareness helps to highlight the importance of the cause, build trust, and mobilize resources. It also creates a sense of shared responsibility and empowers individuals to take action, ultimately driving more impactful and sustainable outcomes. Without adequate awareness, even the best initiatives may struggle to gain traction and achieve their goals. To this end, here is an other effort on my end to spread awarness around labour rights, specifically fundamental. https://lnkd.in/dzDyfV4q

Employers are open to second chance hiring. 75% (!) don't want a record to get in the way of a hiring a quality candidate. So, why do people with records— 1 in 3 American adults—still get barred from so many opportunities? The research points to what's holding employers back (read: the stigma and fear) and opportunities to move them forward (read: debunk myths & point to the community's unique strengths, skills, and potential). While the field moves forward on removing restrictions through policy, this points to how we can shift employer sentiment (and action!) along the way. Check out the brief at the link below. Big ups to REFORM Alliance & the broader Work Matters coalition for making this happen. Excited for what's ahead.
REFORM Alliance is launching a new initiative that will bring fair chance hiring into the mainstream and expand economic opportunity for people on supervision. To inform this work REFORM conducted employer focus groups and a national survey of employers. This research brief presents our initial findings on how employers view justice impacted job seekers and how they might be convinced to expand their hiring practices. We find that stigma and bias remain persistent barriers to expanding second chance hiring, but employers believe people deserve a second chance. This research offers some guidance on how we can take employers support for second chance hiring and turn it into action. To learn more download our research brief on Expanding Second Chances: National Survey of Employer Perceptions about Justice-Impacted Job Seekers at the link below. #secondchancemonth
