📸 Look at this post on Facebook Did you know that environmental based non profits receive just 2% of charitable donations, with most of this going to large, multi-national organizations? Small conservation groups are very good at efficiently converting even small donations into effective, immediate outcomes. There is less money going to administration and staffing costs, which means a higher percentage of each dollar donated goes right to work! For Elephants is a small, grassroots nonprofit making major impacts. We are clearly For Elephants, but we are For so much more. We are For conservation, For positive human-animal interactions, For animal welfare in captivity and in the wild, For the education of trained conservation scientists, and For making positive, sustainable changes. Consider giving either with donations and/or by sharing our message so that we can reach those who share our mission. Happy Giving Tuesday!!!

Tuesday #nature news 🐾 And it's more great news for our most iconic Ecosystem Engineer here in the UK... Yes the Beaver 😀 Yes the first beaver Kit born in Northumberland for 400 years 👀 🙌 To put that in perspective the last Kit was born nearly 200 years before Charles Darwin was born 😮 Just over a year ago the National Trust released four beavers into an enclosure on the Wallington Estate, near Rothbury and they have been hard at work doing what they do best. Shaping ecosystems and boosting biodiversity 🌿 They have built a number of dams, canals and burrows across the reserve and already these are slowing the flow of water and creating ponds, pools and mudbanks. The resulting wetlands have also helped to attract kingfishers, foraging Daubenton’s bats 🦇 and benefitted the declining native, white-clawed crayfish. 🦀 We continue to see the rise in species that are declining across areas where Beavers are present. Their importance should never be underestimated and their impact to the environment is critical 🌳 In May The heavily pregnant female was first spotted and footage captured shortly after showed a kit heading back to the family lodge and taking a dip. What a moment this must of been for the team 😀 Beavers are not just making a comeback...they are BACK! 😁 right where they belong 😎 Northumberland and Wallington Reserve have a new little ecosystem engineer and I am sure in know time he will become as key and effective as creating new habitats for many different species of wildlife, just like his parents 😃 https://lnkd.in/eBvNhz_H #naturenews #rewilding #conservation #ecosystems #habitats #envrionment #beavers

🐺 Only 10 days left to reach the goal! Please consider making a small donation to help build eco bridges (wildlife crossings) for the critically endangered Red Wolves in North Carolina—fewer than 25 remain in the wild. Eco bridges are a tangible, visible action that can make a real difference in protecting these incredible animals. In addition, any contribution will help secure additional federal funding for future conservation efforts. Why I support this initiative: Eco bridges are not just a lifeline for the Red Wolves, but they can also inspire broader conservation and green initiatives across the country. Patient Release: Raccoons We are starting to release some of the MANY Raccoons that have been admitted to our Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital this summer! All of these Raccoons came to us as orphaned babies, whether something happened to their mothers or humans forced the loss of their mother by displacement. We receive many calls starting in spring about babies left behind because their mothers were removed from the area. While trapping and removing is not an ideal situation at any time of year, it is even more problematic during the season when babies are born. Please consider calling our Wildlife Hospital for humane exclusion techniques before trapping any Raccoons. These techniques will allow the mother to move her babies to a new location and keep families together! As you can see, these Raccoons are very curious about their new home! They are released as a litter but will eventually become independent of each other. Raccoons are very curious animals and love to explore their environment. This can lead to negative human interactions when they are found rifling through trash cans or dumpsters, hence their nickname, trash pandas! To live harmoniously with Raccoons, please keep your trash cans secured and patch up any holes into your home. This will ensure that they are not attracted to your home and won’t have the ability to get into your attic to make a nest for their babies. If you have questions regarding native NJ wildlife, please call our Wildlife Hospital at 856-983-3329 ext. 107. #wildlifewednesday #cedarrun #njwildlife #nonprofit #wildliferehabilitation
