Neurological conditions are on the rise in Australia and worldwide, yet despite being recognised as one of the nation’s top disease burdens, neurological conditions remain under-recognised and underfunded. A National Summit in Canberra hoped to change that today, with calls for the establishment of a Taskforce for Neurological Conditions, to urgently address the needs of millions of forgotten Australians. MSWA CEO Melanie Kiely GAICD attended the summit today, supporting the launch of the important 'Count Us In' campaign which aims to drive meaningful change. See her thoughts below. I was lucky to have represented MSWA at a very inspiring and humbling day at the National Summit on Neurological Conditions at Parliament House today. A beautiful sunny day in Canberra and amazing accounts from our community living with neurological conditions. The launch of the ‘Count us In’ campaign and video sums it up. We need more focus within the ndis and aged care of understanding and supporting people and their carers navigating journeys that are difficult. Let’s hope their voices and our voices are heard by those politicians as we clearly head towards the next elections. What is clear is that research matters too. To all those that continue to donate and buy MSWA lottery tickets, thank you. It really makes a difference and that was evident today.
