Hundreds of families gathered at the Children’s Craniofacial Association Retreat in Baltimore from June 27-June 30. This annual event provided a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to meet, share experiences and information about craniofacial differences, and most importantly, have fun! MTF proudly supported the educational symposium on Thursday, 6/27, where Lisa Miller, Sr. Product Manager, discussed the use of costal cartilage allograft in treating facial differences. The event also featured a raffle, awarding two lucky kids a Healing Heroes bear and activity pack. Innovative Trauma Care Inc. (iTClamp) #itclamp was designed to be easily applied for hemorrhage control of the scalp, neck and other compressible extremity wounds. The face, head and neck are tricky, and deceptively simple and can cause first responders to spend an unnecessary amount of time on scene. Anything that can be done to speed up transport to bright lights and cold steel is ideal....Especially TRAINING, TRAINING, TRAINING.

Midface trauma is tricky to manage in an austere pre hospital setting. To add to their existing tools at Edale Mountain Rescue Team , we ran a facial trauma workshop geared towards primary management till Medevac can take place . Thanks to Louise Mortimer we could introduce the team to the use of Rapid Rhino 900 and 550 with hands on modules supervised by Ben Cooper , myself & @Mike cole ( All World Extreme Medicine faculty)

Free and accessible ways to optimize your #brainhealth: * Contact with #nature - The practice of #forestbathing has been linked to better physical and #mentalhealth including lower blood pressure and cortisol levels. * Social connection - Loneliness is a risk factor for poor health outcomes including premature mortality. Social #connection has been shown to improve #healthoutcomes and workplace productivity. * Movement - Moderate movement - for example, #walking - increases levels of brain derived neurotrophic factor, promoting the growth of new brain cells. Since the cortisol released during high intensity exercise might counteract the effects of BDNF, it is recommended to incorporate moderate #movement as part of a well-rounded fitness plan. * Environmental health - Indoor plants can help improve our #wellbeing. It's important to remember to intentionally take breaks from the stress! Many thanks to the Center for BrainHealth and Dr. Sanjay Gupta for a wonderful presentation on neuroplasticity and brain optimization! Really useful practical info on syndesmosis/AITFL injury diagnosis and progressions..
Prof. Dr. med. Dr. med. univ. Head of Foot and Ankle Devision at the Musculoskeletal University Center Munich (MUM)
Check out our new publication "A systematic review of studies on the diagnostics and classification system used in surgically treated, acute, isolated, unstable syndesmotic injury: a plea for uniform definition of syndesmotic injuries." has just been published with EFORT Open access. Diagnosing syndesmotic instability still remains a challenge in clinical practice. Although several studies have recently focused on WBCT to diagnose syndesmotic instability, this technique is still not widely available and the image analysis is not part of the available packages. Based on a systematic review, we present our best-evidence approach to diagnose and classify syndesmotic injuries at the MUM Muskuloskelettales Universitätszentrum München. You have full access to the publication at: https://lnkd.in/dPp-UcJT Happy for any feedback!
