In our country, there is a positive correlation between LGBTQIA+ inclusion and socio-economic development, and this positive correlation has been consolidated since 2020. The higher level of inclusion mainly translates into greater wealth and attractiveness of territories. At the same time, however, there is an "inclusion divide" that persists over the years between Northern, Central and Southern Italy and also between neighbouring territories, giving a picture of strong heterogeneity of the Italian territories. Happy Bi+ Visibility Day. ❤️💜💙 A new history of Victorian bi+ organisations by Bi+ Pride Victoria was launched today by the Hon Minister for Equality Harriet Shing, MP, and our new Commissioner for LGBTIQA+ Communities, Joe Ball, at the Victorian Pride Centre - ‘Spaces to Be’ - which is available at the link below. In the interests of visibility, I’m proudly bi+. Bi+ people are the largest cohort of LGBTIQA+ communities, yet often lack consideration in mainstream and Rainbow narratives, disappearing in the space inbetween. Bi-specific content is important. We also need to continue to think about how we acknowledge multi-identities in all the ways (intersectionality) but also within the LGBTIQA+ acronym; e.g. many trans and gender diverse people are bi+, but may only get to choose one category. There’s still much work to be done to address harmful myths and stereotypes that bi+ people face that impact their relationships and the support that they receive, and to ensure that bionics feel welcome and able to access ‘mainstream’ or LGBTIQA+ services.
