I’m beyond excited! Carbon removal and carbon capture are crucial levers in our efforts to get to net zero. Major projects across different removal pathways are being deployed and operationalized all across the world - real CO2 is being sequestered permanently. All this real-world work is moot, however, if the net removal cannot be transparently shown through the data. In the carbon markets, the *product is the reporting* - the MRV data that proves the voluntary carbon credits, compliance credits, or govt tax credits. If buyers cannot see the proof, they will not trust the carbon removal work. If they do no trust the work, they will not finance it; if there’s no financing, the removal and capture efforts will not scale. This is a new economy, with a new universe of ambitious projects. There’s a real opportunity for every carbon project to get built from day one with the right measurement, data collection, accounting, and reporting tools and practices in place. Much of this tooling doesn't have to be reinvented from project to project - the leading projects are focusing on their differentiators like their science, their access to critical resources, and their ability to execute with high urgency on complex operations in unique environments. I’m particularly excited about the MRV work that Mangrove has already done with some of the largest carbon projects in the world - e.g. innovative marine and weathering projects, biochar developers atop the CDRfyi leaderboards, and some of the largest sequestration projects in N America.
