The environmental crisis is a justice crisis and plastic pollution is not an exception. Frontline communities are paying the price for plastics every step of the way: from production to purported recycling to disposal of single-use plastics. Negotiators of a global plastic treaty need to listen to the voices that are the most impacted. Namati CEO Vivek Maru calls on the US to take a bold stance. Once I was appointed to be the Head of an NGO, we used to focus on PLASTIC FREE CAMPAIGN. Both upstream and downstream solutions have been discussed among experts/ NGOs/ law makers/ all stakeholders, each of us just needs to adjust our daily consuming habit: 📉LESS single use plastic packaging; ❌ NOT to bring/store/throw PLASTIC TRASS at every corner marked by our human footprint; 🆘 Landfill and ocean can’t absorb more plastic trass!!! 💡Replace plastic packaging by other eco-friendly materials In my opinion, we should add ONE MORE “R” into the existing slogan of breaking the plastic waste: REPLACE 🧩 REDUCE 🍀 REUSE 🍃 RECYCLE ♻️ REPLACE 🧩
❌🌏 Plastic kills all life on earth 🌍❌ Plastic pollution is a crisis that grows bigger each day and its victims are disproportionately black, brown, Indigenous and under-resourced communities. In 2022, world leaders agreed to work on a Plastics Treaty that addresses this problem from production to disposal, and set a deadline for the end of 2024. Despite promises for change and the imminent deadline, little progress has been made, with rich nations dumping waste and corporations pushing false solutions and putting profits over people. On April 21st, as world leaders convene to negotiate the Plastics Treaty in Ottawa, we will be calling out this greenwashing and reminding leaders who they are negotiating for. Come help us show world leaders that many voices demand a strong and ambitious Plastics Treaty: https://bit.ly/INC4march #BreakFreeFromPlastic #BeatPlasticPollution #PlasticsTreaty #INC4 Video by Survival Media Agency

Time to go upstream and stop plastic at source? Only 9% of plastic is recycled. Where do you think the other 91% goes? By 2050 it’s predicted there will be more plastic (by volume) in the ocean than fish. Please support and sign this Greenpeace initiative. #plasticpollution #plasticfree #recycling

Plastics Industry professional partnering with companies to define and solve their growth challenges.
A Plastics Treaty?... shouldn't this be a Pollution Treaty and a better TOTAL Sustainable World Treaty? The information presented here and by so many misinformed people /organizations portray many plastics as bad and as the cause of pollution, while plastic is a highly valuable and beneficial material and pollution is just due to human behavior. In a factual world, plastic is the much better choice for a majority of applications due to its overall full life cycle benefits. But, that is not understood. Two references for you to review if you are serious about knowing both sides are; The Plastics Paradox ( www.plasticsparadox.com) by Dr Chris DeArmitt. He is a scientist and has reviewed 4000+ studies. He has outlined the benefits of plastics and how it compares to other materials by referencing actual scientific articles and reports. The other site to review is www.thisisplastics.com. This site outlines where it is used, the benefits of how plastics have improved our lives, how it preserves food, reduces GHG .... Get rid of Single use plastics.... what is a better material to use for the application?? No alternatives with factual basis are presented here or elsewhere. So if you eliminate single use plastics, what happens? Buy in bulk at the convenience store? Isn't pollution here in the US and the World just human behavior? Dump waste (glass, metal, ...) into a river or ocean or throw it out the window, that is just pollution too, Isn't it? In a World growing in population and higher economic conditions we most definitely need to move to a circular economy but we also need to consider the best materials for our needs. We all need to be responsible and accountable to handle our waste properly, in whatever form or content. That is the real issue, isn't it? So shouldn't we be focused on the best material for total sustainability and then hold each other accountable to reuse it?

Plastic pollution is a global issue. That’s the reason the UN Environment Assembly drafted an ambitious plan to cut down on the world’s plastic waste, consisting of 5 enormous roundtables with thousands of delegates from 170 member nations. The 5th Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee session for a Global Plastic Treaty is quickly approaching. But, given the historic difficulty of drafting universally accepted agreements on a global scale, and with the 4th of 5 meetings already completed, how do we create a path moving forward? 📖 https://bit.ly/4deRtlF
