I would like to share some exciting news with you. Our Vid Sersya Budova team has been invited to participate in the Future State Congress (congress,futurestate.tv) which will take place from 2 to 6 December in Ayia Napa, Cyprus. It's a 5-day event of mind-melting discussions, workshops and sci-fi prophecies with the idea of shaping a better future. It will be dedicated to the topic of the reconstruction of Ukraine through the lens of building new cities. We need to build them on a completely different economic, social and technological basis. We require human-centred, regenerative, community-oriented, wise cities that contribute to people's well-being. For more than two and a half years, our team has been working to create such a city. Now it's time to combine forces with a broad international community. Throughout the day, our team will work with congress participants on different streams of city building to create a holistic urban ecosystem. The work will take place not only in Cyprus, but also in Future State embassies around the world. Brooklyn, New York and Kyiv are already confirmed. I encourage you to join us. In preparation for the Congress, the organisers are running the FSC Guide series of online events. This is a great opportunity to delve deeper into the themes of the Congress.   Proud of the BCO Network event yesterday at the European Week of Regions and Cities. Ashya Lane-Spollen animated an interesting discussion on bridging the digital divide by supporting digital infrastructure for smart and sustainable regions, with great panelists, Pirita Lindholm, Director at ERRIN, Markku Markkula, VP CoR, Catherine Wendt, Head of Unit at DG REGIO and Marie Clotteau, from Grand Est region France. All speakers and participants from the audience insisted on the importance of digital connectivity for the competitiveness of European regions, especially for rural areas. It was evident from the discussion that infrastructure is not the only essential requirement: a lack of digital skills is still holding some regions back. The discussion also highlighted the importance of added value services, and the need for adaptive and replicable use cases to be developed to trigger the take up of connectivity and accelerate both rural development and regional growth.    Join us next week, on 18 October, as we discuss specifically how 5G use cases can be replicated and scaled. We will explore lessons learned from the first wave of CEF-funded ‘smart community’ projects.
