Yesterday FEMP's Deputy Director, Anna J Siefken, spoke at the Industrial Decarbonization North America conference in Pittsburgh. This event brought together experts across industries to discuss the mounting challenges hard-to-abate sectors are facing as the world looks for a cleaner path forward. #Decarbonization of these sectors seems daunting, but if executed correctly, it can lead to reduced operational costs and increased revenue all while reducing emissions. Anna talked about how crucial public-private partnerships are to the federal government and how these pathways allow agencies to successfully implement replicable, well-designed efficiency projects. The federal government consumes a large amount of #energy and partnering with the the private sector to leverage underutilized technologies and creative funding mechanisms, like performance contracts, is essential as we strive to meet our efficiency goals and secure our nation's critical infrastructure. 🙌 #IDNA24

Currently there’s a massive mis-alignment and this is down to bad political structure design. Bad design is leading to bad outcomes. Short termism drives political decision making. This is a fundamental cause of our predicament. We must address this cause if we’re to correct our pathway.
