Looking for the best way to keep your cattle show-worthy and ready for the next local fair? Here are 3 tips to help you maximize your cattle’s potential! ✅ Check the quality of the feed you’re giving your cattle Before picking out a specific feed for your cattle, make sure that you check out the ingredient list of that product. Consider product reviews as well as the expertise of the manufacturer. ✅ Make sure that you’re consistent with feeding your cattle Livestock experts recommend feeding your cattle around the same time each day. This will help them get the right amount of nutrition each day, contrary to just allowing them to eat when they want to. ✅ Keep track of progress The best way to track progress is to monitor the weight of your cattle each week. Make changes based on what you see your cattle need. Check out more cattle-raising tips from our blog! https://buff.ly/3fHb6rC

Like a number of nutritionists, Kayleigh Manthorpe has made the transition away from the livestock sector. "After 16 years working predominately with #pigs, it was time to return to the wonderful world of #horses. Despite the differences, there are a number of similarities between formulating feed for horses and livestock. There is cross over and things to learn from each other to apply, with an open mind and a fresh set of eyes, to enable advances in nutrition within our species of choice." Did you know that beef producers in Australia have to go through desk audits? Audit day for LPA - The Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) program is the on-farm assurance program that underpins market access for Australian red meat. LPA National Vendor Declarations (NVDs) provide evidence of livestock history and on-farm practices when transferring livestock through the value chain. The girls manage all of this very well. They are required to scan electronic identification tags on a reader and upload these to the NLIS database. Paddock records and treatments are kept every time they put cattle through the yards. All ensuring Aussie beef is quality beef. Audits are completed by the next gen in this family. The process allows them to fully understand what quality assurance means. They are all over it. 👍 Australian Good Meat Meat & Livestock Australia AUS-MEAT Limited #fourdaughtersbeef #fourdaughtersburger #citycountryconnections #qualityassurance #audittime #aussiebeefthegreatest #aussiebeefproducers

Seemed like a no brainer that with fewer cattle expected to come to market in 2024, fat trim values were likely to follow the same trajectory as they did in 2023. Buyers that sought to stay ahead of the market have learned a difficult lesson - each year has its own dynamic and fighting last year's battles invariably results in disappointment. We cover much of what's been driving the lower prices for fat trim, not just in beef but pork and poultry as well, in today's issue of the Daily Livestock Report (hint: weights are a big part of this).
