European Health Data Space can help create Ireland's fit-for-purpose health system Experts gathered at the EIT Health Summit for the launch of a new report 'Implementing the European Health Data Space across Europe', which could boost Ireland's digital healthcare transition. Elaine Murray, Public Affairs Lead at EIT Health Ireland-UK told Euractiv: "This report is timely as health information policies are undergoing rapid change to develop a fit-for-purpose health system in Ireland. The Health Information Bill, put forward by Ireland's Department of Health in April 2023, provides for the creation of both summary care and shared care records." Implementing the EHDS. Calling for Abstracts for the 8th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research! We are happy to announce that ACCESS Health International is co-organising the virtual pre-conference event for the 8th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research to be organised on the 30th and 31st of January, 2024. We are extending our Call for Abstracts for the same. The Health Systems Global holds the biennial Global Symposium for Health System Research which provides a venue for evidence dissemination, capacity building, and global and regional networking. The theme for HSR2024 is “Building Just and Sustainable Health Systems: Centering People and Protecting the Planet.” In advance of this key event, we as part of the South East Asia regional network are organizing a virtual pre-conference to support prospective participants who are keen on submitting abstracts for HSR2024. Selected participants from the Southeast Asia region will have an opportunity to showcase their work to a larger audience and receive insightful feedback that can contribute to the further development of their abstract and presentation for the main conference. The World Health Organization has found that at least 140 countries recognize health as a human right in their constitution. Yet countries are not passing and putting into practice laws to ensure their populations are entitled to access health services. From 29-31 May, our team joined the 2024 HIMSS Europe Conference (#HIMSS24Europe) held in Rome, Italy. This conference brought together health professionals, scientists, experts and policymakers, among others, on a thought-provoking discussion on tomorrow’s healthcare. 💡🔬   💬 In a panel discussion on the next steps of the European Health Data Space (#EHDS) legislation, Gozde Susuzlu Briggs (EPF’s Senior Programme Manager) highlighted the benefits of EHDS for patients, healthcare professionals and public health, and stressed the need to ensure inclusive implementation.     💬 Valentina Strammiello (EPF’s Director of Strategic Initiatives) joined a discussion on the role of digital portals for patients.
