One of our strategic priorities here at SpartanNash is to create a People First culture where our Associates can do their best work and feel like they belong. As part of those efforts, I’m proud to say we’re expanding our focus from Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB). So, what does that mean to us? Diversity is a FACT – we are working to increase the representation of differences at every level in the organization. Equity is a CHOICE – it’s important to give everyone the tools that best fit their specific situation. Inclusion is an ACTION – we aim to foster an environment where Associates feel welcomed and valued. Belonging is an OUTCOME- when we do all of the above, Associates will feel their uniqueness’ are accepted at work and their voices are heard. We’re also encouraging our Associates to join our company Associate Resource Groups (ARGs) - Associate-led groups centered around common interests, backgrounds and experiences. These are a way for our people to come together around shared experiences and create a supportive network within the workplace. Thankful to Deann Wright for leading our DEIB journey and ARG activation and engagement. We’re excited for this next journey, and I hope you all join me in practicing DEIB in your respective organizations. #DEIB #ARGs #PeopleFirst
