Last week Joint Base Lewis McChord and Hiring Our Heroes hosted their first Transportation & Logistics specific Career Exploration and Hiring Fair. Eric Thomas from North Coast Electric started off the morning with Jimmy Mac and Brad Bentley on RadioNemo of North America on Sirius XM The Road Dog Channel146 Eric then joined Brad Bentley on the Supercharge Your Transition: Apprenticeships in Transportation & Logistics panel featuring Michele Malski from Succession Planning for Railroads Investing in the Next Generation (SPRING) LLC, Alec Mizner from Werner Enterprises, and Eric Thomas from North Coast Electric a Sonepar USA Company. The highlight of the event for our team was about to take place during the Career Fair. As we were networking with hundreds of candidates one candidate immediately stood out. When Jocelyn Lee an Automated Logistics Specialist from the United States Army Reserve, and a Student Veterans of America currently attending the University of Maryland Global Campus her energy and personality made her stand out. As Alice Feeley, Cat Almanzor Hancock and I were engaging with Jocelyn it became obvious that we needed her to meet with the Julie Tallant, and Del Potts our two hiring managers on site from North Coast. After Jocelyn had discussions with Julie and Del a first happened for me at a Hiring Fair this year. An offer of employment was made and accepted for the North Coast Distribution Center in Auburn Washington. I would personally like to thank Kevin Whitehead, Scott Webb, Brad Bentley, Crystal Bryant-Kearns and the Hiring our Heroes team for providing the opportunity for this moment to happen. Sonepar is looking forward to the next Transportation & Logistics specific Career Exploration and Hiring Fairs at Fort Carson, Colorado and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. It was great to see so many great many organizations, companies and friends supporting this event.
