Date: 12th-13th September 2024 We are thrilled to announce that our team are embarking on a significant challenge for our chosen charity: the 'Maggies to Maggies Cycle Ride.' This journey will see us pedal from our London office to our Knutsford office over two gruelling days. The Challenge: Covering this distance in just two days is no small feat. We will push our limits, tackling long stretches of road and varied terrain. Many of our other employees who are less confident on the roads, will be taking part either in the gym or at home, by cycling the same distance on an indoor bike, supporting our core team along the way. Why Your Support Matters: Maggies centres provide free practical, emotional, and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends. The warm, welcoming spaces they offer are a lifeline for those navigating the difficult journey of cancer treatment. Their expert team of psychologists, benefits advisors, and support specialists work tirelessly to ensure no one faces cancer alone. Emotional Support: Maggies centres offer a safe haven where people can share their feelings and experiences, reducing the isolation that often accompanies cancer. Practical Advice: From managing the side effects of treatment to navigating the complexities of benefits and work, the advice provided is invaluable. Community and Friendship: The centres foster a sense of community, offering a place where people can build friendships and find solace in shared experiences. How You Can Help Your donations will directly support the vital work of Maggies centres. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help provide essential services to those in need. Your support will not only motivate us through every mile but will also make a significant impact on the lives of many. Together, we can ensure that Maggies continues to offer their extraordinary care to all who need it. Thank you for your generosity and support! #maggies #normanbroadbent #charity

Slip! Slap! Swing! with a Kent charity. With golfers at a high risk of skin cancer, sun protection on the fairways - whether you’re a golfer of greenkeeper - is vital. Incidence of melanoma has nearly tripled in the UK in the last 30 years and the reason the Melanoma Fund, a small Kent based charity, created the Slip! Slap! Swing! campaign. Launched in 2019, with the support of leading golf organisations, this free campaign is used in over 500 golf clubs, helping set better standards around sun protection, to take skin cancer off the fairways. With only 42% of golfers admitting to wearing sunscreen when the weather required it, and 72% never reapplying it when on the fairway, it is no wonder that golfers are 2.4 times more likely to suffer from skin cancer than the general population. To act on this, and get accredited to the Slip! Slap! Swing! campaign, a golf club simply needs to sign up and use the educational resources within the club house, on their website and socials. They can even order a sunboard for the club, which can be sponsored to make this an affordable asset. Looking for a charity? If you are looking for a charity to support as part of your captain’s tenancy, then we recommend the Melanoma Fund. Based in Kent, the charity creates national news headlines with their work and has a vast reach into sport, with support from many leading governing bodies, including nearly all organisations in golf supporting their work. Fundraising is vital for this charity, which relies on public donations. Supporting clubs will be treated to free sunscreen, skin checks, talks about sun protection and lots more, with 100% focus on your members and staff. To get your club accredited to the Slip! Slap! Swing! campaign visit www.melanoma-fund.co.uk or to find out more about supporting the charity contact Michelle Baker on info@melanoma-fund.co.uk. #melanoma #melanomaawareness #melanomaprevention #skincancer #SkinCancerAwareness #skincancerprevention #localcharity #KentGolf

Shout out to Beth Neel! Beth is competing in the Boston Marathon today in aid of Bowel Research UK and will be flying to London on Wednesday to take part in the London Marathon on Sunday! What an effort! Thanks, Beth! Listen to what Beth has to say: "Hi everyone! When I applied to run for this charity, I was asked "how are you going to fundraise? People have a hard time talking about.....'poo'." And I said "you've clearly never met my friends." Over the past 10+ years of my running career, the one topic that has gone from taboo to so common, I have to refrain from talking about it OUTSIDE of the running community, IS...'poo'. And we can all laugh because 'poo' is funny, but in reality, there's a serious side to it, too. From colon cancer screenings, to IBS, Crohn's, and other ailments in the belly and gut, runner or not, we, or someone we love, have all been affected in some way by...'poo'. So, I invite you to donate to this charity, which is making strides in finding cures to all of the 'poo'-related diseases and ailments that we, or loved ones, could all potentially face. You can absolutely donate anonymously, if you're not as comfortable shouting about 'poo' from the rooftops as the average runner is. But, if you could, to keep it light, please also include a 'poo' pun with your donation. Because, while these ailments are very serious, laughter is truly the best medicine. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity." Please, if you can please sponsor Beth NOW > https://lnkd.in/esZqw3WQ The money you donate will go to Bowel Research UK to fund further research into bowel cancer and bowel disease. #BowelResearch #LondonMarathon #BostonMarathon #Fundraising #Charity #Bowels #BowelHealth #BowelCancer #BowelDisease #BowelCancerAwarenessMonth

📢 Support our recommendations for fair payment for partnership working! As part of a coalition of health #charities we have published new guidance to stop inequity in payment for partnership activities. The guidance is designed to help charities and partners calculate Fair Market Value (FMV). It has been developed by Cancer52, Charities Research Involvement Group, HRCI - Health Research Charities Ireland, National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) and PIF. The guide includes 5 recommendations to support fair payment for partnership work: ⭐ Full cost-recovery to support charity sustainability. ⭐ Minimum entry point of £100/€120 per hour for the work of charities. ⭐ Equity of payment with healthcare professionals where this is higher than the Patient Focused Medicines Development rate. ⭐ Market value add-on costs which take into account the intangible ‘brand’ benefits of partnering. ⭐ Fair contracting with FMV rates set from the start and 30-day payment terms. The recommendations have been endorsed by Asthma + Lung UK, Breakthrough Cancer Research, Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA), Debra - The Butterfly Skin Charity, Irish Heart Foundation, Irish Lung Fibrosis Association, Maynooth University and the NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research). ✅ Today I managed to tick off a 2024 goal. I donated blood for the first time in 20 years! Well, plasma at least for now ;) It felt good to play a small role in helping someone I'll never meet. Just a little drop in the ocean of donations that are needed🩸 At first, I was bummed that I couldn't give whole blood, and that might be your case too for any number of reasons. But I learned by Googling that plasma is commonly given to trauma, burn and shock patients, as well as people with severe liver disease or multiple clotting factor deficiencies. It helps boost the patient's blood volume, which can prevent shock, and helps with blood clotting. According to a poster in the waiting area, even Olympians like Michael Klim OAM need it ❤️ Everyone there was very friendly and did their best to make me comfortable. The experience designer in me though can’t help but offer two suggestions Australian Red Cross Lifeblood : 1️⃣ As time passed during the donation process, I started to think more about the work tasks that weren't getting done. The time left on my car park. Donating blood takes time. That's ok, and I understand the need to be thorough. Maybe at the end of the donation, it would be helpful to remind people again about why they came to donate. Share some strategically placed "success stories" in the recovery area while people are having a cuppa and a biscuit 🍪 (Thanks for having gluten free ones btw ;) 2️⃣ And then, while we are feeling that inner glowing goodness, help us book in our next donation so you're not relying on us to remember. And then hopefully you’ll decrease your cost of “customer acquisition” 🗓️ I wasn't going to post anything about donating, but then I saw a request at the centre to share a photo on social media to help inspire a new donor or remind someone to come back - which is what Steph Clarke posts had done for me. So, I hope that by sharing my experience, I can encourage at least one other person to donate. #experiencedesign #lifebloodau

As a mother of a young son with type 1 diabetes, I constantly find myself worrying about him. I wish it was me instead of him. So as part of a milestone birthday of mine, I decided to take on a personal challenge: getting fit and raising funds for #DiabetesCanada by running a half marathon. Training was going well until I was hit with pneumonia, which set me back significantly. Despite this, I was determined to cross that finish line and successfully completed a 10km race. Arthur Ashe, the only Black American tennis player to win Wimbledon, once said: "Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can." This quote resonated deeply with me during this #journey. You don’t give up. You just do it! My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who supported my #fundraising efforts. Your generosity and encouragement made a significant difference. Diabetes Canada is making groundbreaking strides in the fight against type 1 diabetes. Recent research includes: 🎉Antigen-specific immunotherapies: Researchers are developing liposome-based therapies that mimic apoptotic cells, aiming to halt the immune system's attack on insulin-producing cells. 🎉Inceptor-targeted treatments: Scientists have discovered that inhibiting the insulin-inhibitory receptor inceptor can enhance insulin signaling and improve glucose regulation, showing promise for future therapies. 🎉Teplizumab: This immunotherapy has shown the ability to delay the onset of type 1 diabetes, providing hope for managing and potentially preventing the disease. And many more…. These may go over your head, but #healthcare has always been part of my life, my parents’ profession was in it & I knew I would get closer to it again! While I may never stop worrying about my son, knowing that these advancements are happening gives me hope. I believe that #miracles can happen within his lifetime. Thank you again to everyone who helped support this vital cause. See me below (also a fan of TFC (Toronto Football Club), starting & finishing at their grounds!), after the race! Now getting ready for the next race! #Type1Diabetes #DiabetesCanada #Fundraising #NeverGiveUp #FitnessJourney #HealthcareAdvancements
