I’m not a salesperson by definition, even though my title—𝘒𝘦𝘺 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘳—places me in the sales field. 𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗺 𝗜? My journey into sales was unexpected. With a background in law and early experience in a multimedia company’s technical department, sales wasn’t on my radar. But when I moved to Norway, someone suggested I’d make a good salesperson. I resisted at first, but by coincidence (and maybe a bit of fate), I found myself in sales—and I succeeded. For me, the key was understanding the cultural context. Selling within your own culture is 20% culture and 80% product, but when working abroad, 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗽. I realized that to succeed, I couldn’t just manage relationships—I needed to 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 them along with strategic planning, business development, and other tasks expected of a Key Account Manager. It required comparing cultures, finding common ground, and forging genuine connections. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗜'𝗺 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿. This approach has inspired me to work on a new project exploring cultural connections and professional growth—The project's launch is anticipated shortly. Stay tuned!
