People who suffer from sickle cell disease need up to 4 pints or units of blood every single month to survive. Normally, red blood cells are disc-shaped and flexible enough to move easily through the blood vessels. If a person have sickle cell disease, their red blood cells are crescent- or “sickle”-shaped. These cells do not bend or move easily and can block blood flow to the rest of your body. That is why every month a sickle cell patient needs 4 units of blood, to survive. Blood can not be manufactured only the potential blood donors are the ray of hope for someone to survive . Kindly make your contribution by donating blood today. Aware your near and dears as well. Around 50% of blood transfusions given to sickle cell patients are not the best possible match and Black donors are 10 times more likely to have blood types needed to treat patients with sickle cells. This is why we need more donors from Black African and Black Caribbean backgrounds. Donating blood is safe and easy. In 1 hour, you can save up to 3 lives: Step 1 - When you arrive at your appointment, complete a health check questionnaire and drink 500ml of water. Step 2 - Have a chat about your health with a friendly member of the team to make sure it's safe for you to give Step 3 - Take a seat and give blood for 5-10 minutes. Step 4 - Enjoy a free drink and snack while you rest for 15 minute Step 5 - You're all done. More than 200 employees in the Hemofarm Group in Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina donated blood in the global STADA Caring Day, demonstrating a sincere commitment to the health and well-being of people and supporting the healthcare system. 🩸🌍 For Hemofarm and Hemofarm Foundation in Serbia, this was another opportunity for employees to organize blood donations. Since 2005, they have responded to the appeals of the Blood Transfusion Institute and individuals more than 100 times. Among the employees who donated blood were women and men who donated this precious fluid more than a dozen times, wanting to show that everyone's contribution is important when it comes to human lives. The urgency of blood donation cannot be emphasized enough, as someone in the world requires this life-saving intervention every few seconds. Therefore, Caring Day plays a significant role in addressing this critical issue by best connecting the mission of the STADA Group, Hemofarm, and its Foundation, Caring for People's Health as a Trusted Partner with the needs of people or the healthcare system. In addition to the humanity and solidarity carried by each act of donation, giving blood is extremely healthy as it contributes to the better functioning of the heart and vascular system. Anyone can be a hero. 💪 Become a donor.🩸 #30YearsCaringForPeoplesHealth #BloodDonation #CaringDay #Solidarity #Hemofarm #HemofarmFoundation #OneSTADA
