#ThePowerOfCommunity This week, I witnessed firsthand the incredible power of community. A group of extraordinary men and women came together to support female founders, pooling their time and resources to help overturn the recent Innovate UK Women in Business Award. It reminded me of a core belief we hold at Nurture Network: amazing things happen when we come together. At Nurture Network, we don’t just rally when things get tough; we celebrate and support each other when things are great too. That’s why we’re inviting not only our members but also the incredible new friends and allies we've met recently to join us in experiencing something truly special. Our aim is to ensure that senior women have access to some of the most exclusive networking experiences, like live Manchester United games, Formula One races, world-class conferences, and other high-level events. Through Connect Experiences, you’ll be matched with a hospitality partner that aligns with your passions. Often, these suites go underutilized when they could be filled with brilliant women making connections and building relationships that last. We all know that time is our most precious resource, so we’re delighted to offer this opportunity to our network. But there’s a limited number of memberships available, so sign up now at the link below. Tagging some amazing and inspiring women we have met this week in the comments below. Shadé Akande isn’t just talking about change; she’s building it, one powerful connection at a time. As the mastermind behind @onexleague , Shadé is on a mission to create a world where Black and Afro-Latinx women in leadership aren’t just surviving—they’re thriving. Drawing from her deep well of experience from corporate giants like Google and Verizon Wireless, she’s turning the traditional networking model on its head. For Shadé, ONE X LEAGUE is more than a network—it’s a lifeline. It’s about showing up in spaces where you’re not just allowed, but invited, celebrated, and understood. This isn’t about handing out business cards in stuffy conference rooms. It’s about cultivating deep, personal connections that fuel professional growth and personal wellness. This vision sprouted from Shadé’s own journey. Working in HR at some of the biggest firms globally taught her a lot about what’s missing in the corporate support system for Black and Afro-Latinx women. It’s one thing to climb to the top; it’s another to do so while trying to fundamentally alter spaces that aren’t built to understand your experience or culture. With ONE X LEAGUE, she’s crafting a sanctuary where members get real about the challenges and triumphs of being at the top. Whether it’s through retreats focused on wellness or seminars about building generational wealth, Shadé’s league ensures that its members have access to everything they need to not just lead but excel. We had the distinct honor of speaking with Shadé Akande in an interview, where she shared her invaluable expert insights. It's an honor to be among Joanie Parsons RevelEleven Events + Retreats 2024 Speaker Community! As a Certified Master Life Coach specializing in (often) complicated, critical Mother-Daughter Relationships, my mission is directly aligned with RevelEleven Events + Retreats. In my practice, I help women gain clarity, heal wounds, internal pain/conflict/struggle and break unhealthy attachments. I educate my clients on essential relationship fundamentals--many of which were never learned--so they can end dysfunctional relationships and create healthy, functional ones. My clients achieve: - inner peace, trust & confidence - emotional resilience - self-prioritization & self-compassion - freedom & self-empowerment - healthy relationships (incuding the one with themselves) - clarity on their role in raising (and how to raise) healthy, secure daughters and children - and more I started my personal growth journey at age 19, healed my dysfunctional beliefs, thoughts, patterns and upbringing wounds. I also healed my relationship with my mother. I switched careers in 2022 to put my life's work and passion into greater use, make a bigger impact and help others achieve what I have--a transformed life. We all deserve to live a healthy, empowered life. It comes down to choosing it.
For years, RevelEleven Events + Retreats has been championing the idea that women will—no, make that are—changing the world. From boardrooms to classrooms, playing fields to politics, women are leading the way. #KamalaHarris has dramatically changed and re-energized the presidential election. #SimoneBiles and #BriannaStewart have created the excitement, fan bases and ratings that women’s sports have long deserved. #TaylorSwift isn’t just selling out concerts—she’s jumpstarting local economies. Within our own RevelEleven community, we’ve benefited from all the exceptional speakers—shown in the picture—who have graced us with their wisdom, warmth and expertise. From bestselling authors to CEOs, life coaches to outdoor adventure enthusiasts, and everyone in between, each of these remarkable women has contributed invaluable insights that have enriched our community. Their voices have sparked meaningful conversations, inspired countless members, and empowered our community of over 6,000 women to embrace their journeys and live life on their terms. It’s. Our. Time. (And it’s about time.) When I talk with my friends about the impact that women are making throughout our society we all have the same takeaway: we need to ride this wave, stay engaged and keep making positive changes. We have the momentum—now let’s do something with it! Here are some ways you can make a difference: Be a mentor The next generation of leaders needs you! Whether you do it formally through a mentorship program or informally by spending time with young women and girls, being a mentor is one of the most important ways you can help make sure women have the future we want and deserve. Find your cause Get involved! Find something you care about—reproductive rights, business leadership, girls sports, it doesn’t matter what—and volunteer your time, energy and expertise. Big changes start with small moments. Vote like you mean it Voting matters! The world would be a much different—and better—place with more women in elected positions. Your ballot is a critical way to make changes and protect the rights and values that we care about. Thank you for making the first half of 2024 so unforgettable and being the driving force behind the growth and success of RevelEleven! I was lucky enough to attend the Women In Bloom, Confident and Killing It event yesterday, and it was an incredible experience. Tiwalola Ogunlesi is an inspiring speaker, and we also heard from other women who generously shared their stories of starting over. My top takeaways from the event were: ⭐️It’s okay to start small; every journey begins with small steps toward a larger goal. ⭐️Don’t say “no” to yourself before others do. We often count ourselves out of opportunities when we assume we don’t stand a chance. Believe in yourself first! ⭐️ Be proactive and create opportunities for yourself. Many stories shared at the event had a common theme: tenacious women taking risks, bouncing back from rejection, and making their own opportunities. ⭐️ Don’t confine yourself to a box. You never know what you can achieve if you think boldly and outside the box. I highly recommend that all the women in my network and beyond check out Tiwa and Confident and Killing It. I can’t wait for the next event!

One of the things I’m post proud of is that through Confident and Killing It, we’ve created safe spaces for women to feel seen, heard and worthy ❤️ We live in a world where women are often overlooked, spoken over in meetings and constantly told in marketing that we are not good enough and honestly it’s exhausting👎🏽 I wasn’t ok with this so I started my own movement that would change the narrative. No matter your gender, you deserve to know your value, believe in your greatness and share it with the world. This Sunday we’re celebrating 7 years of this incredible community and I’d love to have you join us too! Being at one of our events feels like having a cheerleader by your side, a place you can learn and be surrounded by women who love seeing you win! A space for you to practice confidence and have conversations that set your heart on fire! 📌Only a FEW tickets left so if you can join us in London on July 21st click the link below to get your ticket https://lnkd.in/dQJTc9Ae

You may not like to hear this, as a man, I do not think it is in our interest to try and empower women. To begin with, we can only empower someone who does not have power, so here I am, this generous and amazing soul, who recognises that there are people without power. Many times the so called "empowering" process starts with disempowering the other. Power in itself is not good nor bad, however, the relationship we choose to have with it, can be in many cases detrimental to society. Power is often used to achieve our own goals, in complete disregard for our community (and off course, it can also be used the other way round, more of this in a bit) And, my personal experience is that when women operate in an environment where there are no men, other dynamics emerge. The feedback I hear from those (women) who attend the monthly women connector event that we run in conjunction with Timea Kadar (when I say "we" I mean we co-promote and organise it, however, she is the one one who hosts it, the event is 100% for women and women only) is that a lot of co-operation arises. For some who join for the first time, there is a certain "I do not know what" that makes this event so special, and when I read the post events posts on Linkedin, I can feel a lot of empathy. And this is why I said at the beginning that generally speaking, it is not helping me, as a man, to operate from a mindset of "I am going to empower you" in general, and even more so with those who attend the #womenconnector event. I find it is much more in my interest to help creating the set up for women to get together, step out, and learn, be a student, an observer, see what I can "take" from that, and most of the time it is a bigger drive towards co-operation, growing together, building and being part of a community and much more. So, if you are a woman who resonates with all this, why not joining the next #womenconnector event on 20th May ? Here is the link for the registration https://lnkd.in/d4Dznhbp And if you are a man, join me me on the sidelines, we won't be able to join, but we can refer and tag women in our network who we think would like to attend the event.

It’s that time to the year… When companies are planning their IWD events. As International Women’s Day (IWD) approaches, I wanted to share 3️⃣ thoughts - hoping for this and future year’s IWDs to be different from previous years: 1️⃣ I recently found out that the UN theme for IWD is different from the theme many corporate organisations follow (the latter being a more palatable theme). This year’s UN theme is “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”. The corporate theme propagated by internationalwomensday.org is “Inspire inclusion”. Which one are you leaning towards? Personally, I don’t believe we need a theme that is more palatable! We need to make change happen so I am leaning towards the more ambitious theme of accelerating progress. What about you? 2️⃣ I am still baffled by the number of large profitable companies who approach women - especially Black and Brown women - who are DEI thought-leaders to speak at their corporate IWD events UNPAID?! (The irony is not lost on me! 🤦🏾♀️) If your company is doing this 👉🏽 stop 🛑, reflect and pay the speaker fee. If you are committed to DEI and seeking inspiration, then resource DEI efforts and events. For those that do pay the speaker fee, you are doing the fair and just thing and hopefully others will follow suit. 3️⃣ I am always amused that IWD events are attended predominantly by women! Isn’t that just strange? 🤔 Shouldn’t it also be attended by men so we can collaboratively learn how to make workplaces and society more equitable and fair? Change cannot happen with only the underrepresented fighting the fight. We need the well-represented to step up. So this IWD: 🎯 If you are a man, please attend your organisation’s IWD events. I can guarantee that you will be warmly welcomed and you are very likely to learn a thing or two to be an active ally. 🎯 If you are a woman, please do encourage your male colleagues to attend. 👋🏽 I hope to see more men at the IWD events I will be speaking at that week! And if you are not sure what event to attend, check out the one in Copenhagen in the comments below! #ThursdayThoughts

So excited to attend the incredible event on the 17th with such an amazing lineup of people! We are delighted to support by offering all attendees a gifted one-year membership to Connect Experiences. Please like the comment and we will send you a direct link ... Having worked in sponsorship for a long time, we've noticed that mostly men get gifted these incredible experiences. A network like this, with all the incredible women here, deserves some time and hospitality too.
